Hi All,
I just wanted to get some friendly advice before I went ahead and amended my Calories..
I am currently half way through the Insanity Workouts and I havent been following the Nutrition plan but i would like to start to, or at least try my best to incorporate some of the foods/ideas into my own meals...But when i worked out my calories I almost fell off my chair! According to this, I need to eat a whole heap of food, or am I just freaking out and I should be eating calorie dense foods??
According to the Nutrition Guide provided by the kind Shaun T...
http://www.timeouthut.com/share/Insanity Nutrition Guide.pdf
on page 6 then 7 where it starts 'Step 1'. My weight 144. My height 66. My age 29. This gives me:
1458 to maintain my current weight
moderatively active, I should be eating 2260
and a WHOOPING 2478 if I am Very active!!!
I have asked my mfp friends and generally they reckon I should try 2000 and dont eat the exercise calories back. One mentioned to gradually increase the calories 100 cals per week...
So I just thought Id ask the wider audience for a bit of help and guidance as a lot of you have done Insanity before and know a lot more than i do, Im lost really, eating so much scares me, maybe Im just a little nieve but I could do with some extra help really...
Thank you in advance people!

Those numbers are the numbers to maintain your weight. I think your friend is pretty much right on the money, and 2000 a day will give you roughly a 250-500 calorie a day deficit since you are still trying to lose weight. If you go with the 2000, don't eat your exercise calories back, since they are already included.0

I was wondering the same thing. I am 5'1, 22, weight 132. According to this I would have to eat 1408 to maintain. To maintain my weight while doing Insanity, I would have to eat 2182 for being moderatively active and 2393 for being active. To lose a pound a week, I would have to eat 1700 for moderately active and 1900 for very active0

Any more thoughts on this? Looks like I'm going for the 2000 of not....0

I dont understand this at all. That says u can maintain your weight eating in the 1400s? Maybe I misunderstanding, but it you eat 1458 cals a day, you are NOT going to maintain, you're going to lose. But maybe I don't understand what you mean.0

That's my point exactly, I don't understand it either, was hoping someone could shed some light..0 -
Don't get confused
Yes, eating more is scary. But if you are consistently putting out a high level you should still lose weight. To make it easier to calulate I think your friend is right to say 2000. The idea of adding calories in increments of 100 sounds good to as you can monitor how your body feels day to day. Most days when I workout really hard I eat way more than goal. 2 things to look up find out what your true BMR is and what your TDEE is. Then see where those numbers fall in with insanity's numbers.
I guessing your BMR is the 1458 (this is where you would maintain if you did nothing but lay around all day, if you work out you will lose), your TDEE is around 2258 (if you did insanity and wanted to maintain weight) so around 1800 is where you would want to be if you worked out at a moderately high intensity say 3-5 hours a week. My suggestion would be to start at 1458 and gradually increase to around 1800.
you said you are already doing insanity, so how many calories are you eating now? do you feel hungry?0 -
Thanks for replying.. This week has just been ruined really... I was hoping to get a more clearer answer earlier on in the week.. I usually net between 1400-1500 without feeling bloated or constantly hungry...0

The program is suuuper intense, and eating to little you will feel like **** during the workouts, and cause your body to think it's pretty much starving. Pretty much whatever you just ate will be long gone by the time you finish with the workout.0
