Knee pain after skipping rope.

I've been doing Stronglifts for about 6 weeks now, and last monday I thought I'd try and burn a few extra calories by skipping rope (first time in probably 20 years too).

I was fine that night, no issues apart from a mild case of being completely uncoordinated. Finally got the rhythm down and burn quite a few calories.

The next day and all this week so far, my right knee has been in a bit of pain, I've avoided doing any cardio, but have still been completing the Stronglifts (so far on Wednesday and today). I did a 10 min run before weights, and was fine, but now that i've done weights, that aching feeling has come back into my knees.

Anyone had anything similar? I'm starting to feel guilty that I haven't done any cardio, but really don't want to fall behind on Stronglifts either.

I'm currently squatting 70kg (about 155lbs), so I'm definitely getting up there with weights.

Pretty much, I'm wondering whether I should focus on some low impact cardio for the week and skip stronglifts (which I don't really want to do), or just keep focusing on the Stronglifts and keep cardio to a minimum for now.

I would try walking for cardio for a day or two and see if your knee is still hurting. If it still hurts after a couple of days, you might get it checked out by a doctor. I had a similar issue when I started jumping rope. If you are as overweight as I am, then that could be the problem. Since I've dropped some weight, I haven't had problems again. Jumping rope is the best cardio exercise, IMO, and the truth is, it burns more calories than just about any other cardio you can do, even running. I'm a believer in doing the right mix of cardio and strength training. I am focusing more on cardio now than strength training, just because I have so much weight to lose.
