  • I would just go to bed and start over in the morning. If you are not hungry it might be because your body isn't feeling well. You could be low energy or getting sick but haven't shown symptoms yet.

You won't gain weight from just one night.

But eating this late can't be good for sleep, that's why I don't advise it.

Maybe drink a glass of milk to get some extra calories without the blood sugar spike of actually eating. Warm milk perhaps? With cinnamon?

    Tis the season.
  • Try increasing your portions slightly throughout the day, and add a healthy snack in late morning or mid afternoon. If you're exercising, try a lighter exercise.
  • I usually eat only 500 calories a day
I live in a sedentary lifestyle because i'm a student
    It's ok i guess

    500 calories a day?

    Is that okay?

Well, if eating 1200 calories is borderline I think you can imagine what 500 is.
I think I take in 500 calories just looking at food.

    I'm hoping that 500 is a mistype.

I've had days like that. When it happens to me, I then make sure that I plan ahead for the next day. Someone on this site gave me a great quote
"Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper".
So I usually start the day with about 450 calorie breakfast and then taper down from there. Just a suggestion. Awesome that you aren't hungry though. Great job on listening to your body that late at night.

Oh, I remember those days of only eating 500 calories when I was 18. Wow, was I ever "skinny", but sadly it did not last for very long. Oh yeah, I also lost my gallbladder, was told I couldn't have children (did finally, but what a struggle) and damaged my teeth big time in the process. So please be careful with your body at 18. When you are 35 :blushing: you're going to be thankful you did :flowerforyou:

to answer your question, unless she is under a medical professional's supervision and is being specifically told to be on that diet (or maybe she's 4' 4" tall) then no, 500 calories is not a healthy eating practice and will lead to muscle deterioration, many different metabolic syndromes, bone density issues, and a whole host of other problems. I'm not judging, just stating the ramifications of long term extreme calorie deficit.

Put it this way, if you're already thin enough that 500 calories is within the 1000 calorie threshold, then your body can't handle that large of a deficit, and if you're big enough that you're creating a deficit greater than 1000 calories, then you're only throwing your body into a severe form of starvation, kicking off the body's survival instincts, shutting down organs, leeching calories and minerals out of other (vital) sections of the body (bones, muscle, lean tissue, organs). Either way you're most likely doing long term damage to your body and possibly setting up serious metabolic issues that will only show up later in life, making it far more difficult to maintain health.
