Anyone with eczema??

Ive had eczema for like past 10 or so years and it kinda seems like it helps when I'm eating right and dieting. Is that just in my head of does anyone else who has eczema see this??

Nope you're not crazy I have the same thing. If I am eating right, avoiding trigger foods for my allergies, and drinking plenty of water my eczema stays under control. (Also helps with the arthritis! ) It takes a few days to get "out of wack" and a few weeks to get it back under control if I have been off track.

Okay...I'm glad it's not just in my head. It's a big thing for me because it's only on my hands..was just on my right hand...just recently got it on my left hand. It's so bad I can't even wear my promise ring anymore from the inflammation and that really upsets me. So I'm trying to keep it somewhat under control. And I'm glad this is working! Hoping the inflammation goes down so someday I can wear a wedding ring! :-)

Definitely! I've noticed even my dry elbows are less dry!

I also have eczema and find that eating dairy tends to exacerbate it, so I avoid that as much as I can - although I am a sucker for cheese!

My diet doesn't tend to affect it as much as stress does - but unfortunately I can't avoid stress like I can dairy!!

If it's that bad get yourself to your GP for some hydrocortisone cream and that should bring down the inflammation. And I don't need to tell you not to scratch!

I have had eczema since childhood. It is now mainly confined to my hands and arms. I had food intolerance testing carried out about seven years ago which showed I was sensitive to cocoa, cinammon and an additive used in steroid creams. I've pretty much cut out everything on the list (which an occasional laps with chocolate lol). Even with cutting out the three things above my hands were always in a bit of a state. Since March I've cut caffeine out of my diet and now drink only water and caffeine free teas, been eating healthy (cooking meals from scratch) and the difference in my hands is incredible - to the point that the last time I went to get my nails done the girl commented on how good my hands were. Also I have been taking cod liver oil capsules and green tea extract capsules.

Same here, if i eat properly my exzema calms down. I havnt used my pescribed cream in a little while now, certain things trigger it off though like if i eat to much chocolate and a few other sugary stuff.

How have you narrowed down the things that trigger it?

for me narrowing down triggers has been a trial and error process as I am sure it was for most of us here responding. I know that you can get allergy testing done to speed things along. I started with cutting out all possible trigger foods...pretty much an elimination diet that is used to help determine allergies/sensitivites...and then adding things back in SLOWLY, 1 at a time and seeing what the reactions are. So far for me wheat, dairy, and now its looking like corn are all triggers as well as some other really odd things. You should be able to talk to your dr. about doing an elimination diet or look it up on-line if you choose. I did mine under my chiropractor's supervision. Good Luck!
