I've heard that some people have quiona instead of oatmeal for porridge. Do you make it with milk or just water in the pan?? The same way you make it as a side dish?

I found a recipe on mfp a couple of months ago that I use regularly:

    1/2 c. quinoa
    cinnamon
    2 c. skim milk
    salt
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar

Rinse the quinoa. Add the cinnamon to the quinoa and heat over medium heat for a couple of minutes. Add the rest of the ingregients. Stir and heat until almost boiling. Cover and simmer for about 45 minutes.

Delicious. This makes 4 small servings of 148 calories each.
  • Thank you, I will try that :)

I make a big batch of quinoa per directions and put it in the fridge, then if I want some for breakfast I mix it in with greet yogurt and eat it cold...yummy! I have also microwaved it with a touch of milk to soften it and added cinnamon and raisins...

when we made it, we did it with just water and it was great too. There was a free quinoa cookbook via kindle on amazon.com, don't know if it is just a one day or limited time thing but you might want to check for free cookbooks and see:) Good luck. I really love the quinoa!
