Phendimetrazine (Bontril) anyone tried or have info?

Options
My Endo just gave me a rx for phendimetrazine. I am leery of taking it mostly because of the other meds that I am on but I was wondering if anyone out there has used it. What were most bothersome side effects? Pros? Cons? A very long time ago I took phentermine and it worked great but it gave me horrible headaches and made me have a short temper. I am afraid this will be very similar. I told my dr. I didn't need an appetite suppressant but he assured me this would help me break thru the plateau I am on and that in a couple months I would be feeling great. Anyone out there with experience to share? I am already following low carb/low cal diet that he gave me. I really don't need appetite control. The energy boost might be nice but not sure about the whole thing.

I have no experience with any diet drugs but I don't think they are a good idea.

Anytime a doctor recommends ANY drug, I research it myself and most often decide against it. This was one reason I have worked to bring my weight down. I refused to go on statins to keep my cholesterol below 200.

There's plenty of info available. There are also sites that give info on interactions.

My health is my responsibility. Experience with my own doctors as well as with spouses' (that is plural because the first one died after a long illness) and children's doctors has taught me never to assume the doctor knows best - especially if you are seeing more than one doctor about more than one health problem.

By the way, my cholesterol is now about 175.

I have no experience. But I think if you don't want to take it, you don't feel you need to take it, and there's no life-saving reason to take it, you shouldn't take it.

    Good luck.

A doctor once told me that he often prescribed drugs because his patients, once committed to asking about a problem, expected him to "do" something.
You mention other medications. I would research, or ask your pharmacist about possible interactions.
Remember that this is supposed to be a temporary dosage, sort of to jump-start your weight loss.
Looks like another speed-type drug to me. You'll get a lot of work done for a week or two.
