Ankle pain

Hey!

So, the past 16 days I have exercised everyday (with one day rest). I'm currently doing the 30 day shred (on level 2) and the couch 2 5k (one more run until week 4). Prior to this I was pretty sedentary.

This past week, I have been experiencing some ankle pain. First it started off on the outside of the leg, now it's decided to progress to the inside too. Before the inside came about, it was starting to get a little better, but now they are both back.

I'm having this problem on my left ankle, and I can feel that it is slightly bumpier/swollen in comparison to my right ankle.

See image, the blue circles is where I'm experiencing the pain (the side view is for the inside of my leg, not outside):

I do *slightly* get it on my right as well, but nothing I can't handle. I am also having slight pain in the joint of my right knee, but again, nothing I can't handle.

I KNOW I should rest, but...I am so dedicating to sticking to my exercise regime and seeing it through without any prolonged breaks that it pains me to take one. I am also scared if I take a break from the 30 day shred, that I may either a) Find it a bit difficult to get back into b) not get back into it at all.

Exercise is really all I have at the moment, and it really fills my days...I have a lot of pent up energy and tend to take it out on my exercise. I know there are lower impact exercises I could do, and I could just do upper body work - Which is what I may have to resort to, but I will be so disheartened!

Apart from applying ice to the area... are there any other ways I can kick this in the butt? Any massages I can do on myself (may be a ridiculous idea I do not know)

Thanks in advance, much appreciated :)

I wish i could give you an answer i just got out of a cast over a fractured ankle. I would definitively rest it i would try yoga pilates or zumba to get a work out in. Running is a terrible idea. Your body is telling you to slow down you should listen to it. You can also still do the thirty day shred i just wouldn't do any of the jumps, that's what i have been doing

Awh no! That's terrible. Have you ever been prone to broken bones before?

Leaving out the jumps it certainly a good idea, I have thought about it but thought I might be cheating myself. I'll probably do that though thank you. And I have a pilates DVD, so maybe I'll replace that for the running for now, I just don't know how long I should stop the running for. Gawd, I'm getting upset thinking about stopping!

It's not cheating yourself, your still getting a good work out when they do jumps i normally step side to side and move my arms.
