it's been said already, but it's true. There will be up days, down days, and stall days. Just keep at it the right way and it will happen..

try working on small goals like 25 pounds....don't think about anything else but meeting that goal.....take it one day at a time and make small sustainable changes. This is a lifestyle change....not a diet. I started where you are and although i am slow as molasses in january i have now lost 130 pounds and love being active!!!! in fact, i am supposed to be sitting for 6 weeks post op and it is driving me crazy!!!! never thought i would be one to say i wanted to go to the gym.......

first day is today. nervous and worried. always talk myself out of making the drastic permanent change i need - self sabotage. But it has to happen this time. The boulder is going over the hill soon on serious health issues. want to be around for my kids..and have a life back.

    need to lose 200+ #'s
I am with you, I need to lose tghe same amount of weight as you. I don't want to worry about the health issues as well, want to see my kids get married and time to take control of my life as well. I wish you the best of luck.

I started one day at 379 so I have been there. Stay the course don't expect it over night and just keep working at it. Before you know it a year will pass and you will be in better shape and healthier. Just keep working it =)

    ^^^^ THIS!!
  • I discovered MFP on Friday just as I was ready to sign up for WW. This site is perfect and is time to finally make a committment to myself which is in turn better for the others who I put first for so long. Given a friend found out she must follow a gluten and diary free existence I've decided to make some of those adustments too. I already walk alot but documenting the excercise makes me up the workouts too.

Good luck to us all...Hope to see less and less of us!

    Welcome.

You can do this. It sure feels like a drastic change at the beginning. It doesn't feel so drastic now. I eat mostly what I used to, but I control when and how much. As others have said, I also encourage you to log everything - calories can surprise you - I still get surprised occasionally. I resisted calorie counting for a long time, but it's not a hassle at all...and it works.

The most important thing is to not quit. Keep going...small changes are better than no changes. Some movement is better than none.

Feel free to add me also - good luck!

    Hi Midian,

You're in the right place! Add me as a friend if you like. I'm the type that does like to see your diary and give you advice, which it sounds like you are looking for.

You can do it! Just make sure you are always going in the right direction during in terms of eating healthier and exercise and no matter what, never feel like you failed and take every blip in the road in stride. I would recommend looking at a calorie calculator at fat2fitradio.com upping my calories to above him bmr (I eat 2100 calories now but am close to my goal weight) was the best thing I ever did in terms of ease of this lifestyle change and satisfaction from day to day (also mfp says I should be lose 0.1 pound per week and I lost 10 pounds this past 30 days). Good luck and no matter what, stay the course!

Feel free to add me. Having a support team and people who know what you are going through makes it so much easier to stay on track and reach your goals. I have over 100lbs to lose.
"Lets get healthier"!! Its not dieting, its a healthier way of living and its not exercise, its getting up and moving more than you usually do. This is what I tell myself to stay motivated. Its a life style change.
    Good luck to you!!
  • Greetings.....

Ready to make this 'journey' mean something.....I'm 40 & loving the 'spiritual' energy l possess; but equally as frustrated with the 'changes' in my health & appearance! I really am seeking to network with other women/men that are feeling the 'newness' of this battle....
