Have you lost 100+ pounds? I am curious about something.

My name is kayla and I have lost a little over 80 pounds. I strength train, zumba, ride my bike, walk, take core classes, YOU NAME IT! My life is exercise. I am curious about your weight loss because I am noticing where my fat used to sit under my belly button ( I guess the common term for this is an apron) feels like it is getting smaller but I can tell a lot of it is turning to skin. I am wondering if that skin will tighten up. From most of your experiences did it? I ran in a mud run-obstacle course on saturday and it was actually preventing me from running because I forgot to wear a shaper. It slaps around (gross I know) and makes some activities that I want to do impossible. I have about 75 pounds more to go before I reach my goal and I am already worried that I am going to have to have skin removal surgery.

So to the point. Those of you who have reached your goal by losing over 100 pounds did your body tighten up ok or did you have to go under the knife?

(some key information here: I am 23 and this is my first actual time trying weight loss and have been doing it for a year now)

My mom and sis have lost a lot of weight in recent time and they both have issues with extra skin. They've both told me to make sure I strength train as well as watch what I eat as I go about my journey. Neither of them really exercised or did any strength training and now they regret it. FYI, my sis is 29 and my mom is 52.

I have heard tofu helps firm up skin, but I don't know. I have lost 105 pounds and I know when I am finished I will have to have skin reduction surgery. I think from what I have read it depends on your age, how long you have been overweight and how much you have to lose. There are lotions out there that have some good vitamins that help to. Good luck!

I think you're young enough that you will lose at least a decent amount of excess skin. Moisturizer and cardio are important as well as strength training (specifically core workouts).

I'm lifting every day now and I'm noticing that the excess skin is slowly going away. Obviously I can't say with certainty whether the strength training was the cause of the excess skin going away, it's possible it just goes away with time.

For me it's been ok, but I've lost super slowly. Lost the first 50-60 lbs over a year or two a few years ago. I've lost almost another 40 since Jan. I'm more 'jiggly' right now but not like 'loosey-goosey' skin wise - most noticeably the flabby arms :p

I've read several suggestions, that the more slowly you loose, it gives your body more time to readjust, so loose skin isn't so noticeable, which kinda make sense. A few people I've read said it took like a year+ (once they reached their goal wt) for their skin to catch-up and re-firm itself. In some instances I think you can just end up with skin that won't ever tighten up, but I'd definitely wait for awhile and give your body time to readjust before considering surgery.
