Christmas is killing me

Why does everything around the holidays deal with food? and not just any food but "real down home country soul food" that I cant resist?
I have been doing this for over 6 months you would think I would have some self controll but nooooo! So what is a girl to do. Dont go to the Bazillion Christmas partys and new years eve bashes? Or dont eat the food? The mind is willing but the body isnt! I even tried to be good today and ate healthy filling foods that were low cal just to prepare for the Christmas party tonight and ate only one spoon full of each dish but alas I was still over in cals, (by a bunch). To top that off I have had to cut my gym time down the last few weeks because of sick kids and holiday stuff.
Sorry just needed to vent ....anyone else finding this season a life style diversion?
Urgggg!

I know!!! Why can't there be atleast one holiday that you celebrate with healthy food? I know that any holiday "can" be celebrated with healthy food, but it would be nice to have that be the norm.:sad:0

Today and yesterday was way off my plan. I ate so many little no no's. But I will be right back. Life is hills and valleys. We are not computers, but human and got to learn to let go and life and then reevaluate our priorities. Mine was to eat, enjoy, and then get back to what's really important. And for me that is getting this weight off and be healthy.
I've had a horrible week of bad emotions, and ungrateful children. I cried, missed my xmas party and ate some. Oh, well. That's life. Now the kids are out of school for two weeks and I am going to relax and enjoy the holiday the best I can.
So here's to eating to my health and to the next size down. You can do it if you decide to and so can I. Be blessed, kc0 -
Yep, me too. The fiance is on a baking frenzy. He is baking pies (apple, cherry, etc. all with homemade crusts). Plus, I just found out that we might be going to his parents' for a few hours for Christmas. His family is Hispanic, so there is SO MUCH good food around. I don't want to be rude, as I have had a rocky past with his family and have just this past year really started to patch things up, but how do I say no to food or eat very little of it when it is offered to me? Also, my family is getting our Christmas meal from the local grocery store deli (as we did at Thanksgiving, but I wasn't watching my calories) and it doesn't come with a calorie guide. Do I just kinda guesstimate the calories using foods from the database and measure my portions? AARRGGHHH, I love the Holidays, but geez, why can't we have Healthy Food Holiday???0

If you eat 1000 calories a day over maintenance for a whole week, you will eat 7,000 calories too much, and you will gain 2 pounds.
I'm screwing up a few days pretty badly right now, I don't care, it's Christmas. I'll be back where I was by Jan 15.0 -

I second the discipline and raise it with willpower... you're admitting defeat before you even get started. Good luck.0

I like this! He's keeping the "splurging" in perspective. 2 pounds won't set you back very far.... Just get right back on track the day after a party, or the day after a splurge and do the best you can. My daughter's birthday is Christmas Eve, but we're celebrating today by going to a restaurant--another huge temptation! Not to mention all the other temptations of the last few weeks, that I've given into as well. I just get back on track on the days when we don't have parties, and try to enjoy the days when we DO have holiday food.....that's just life, and you've got to enjoy it and be flexible. It's never all or nothing! Fitness is a life-long journey....enjoy the ride!0 -
Discipline
My Discipline has been strong for 4 months. But this week in the office lunch room there was something "not on the plan" in there every day. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday The Discipline held strong. But more, and more crap that tastes so good kept coming, and kept coming. Thursday I had a cup of cheezy pop corn. Then Friday, like the defenders of the Alamo were finally over welmed my Discipline finally collapsed. Mt Dew, Chex mix with cashews and who knows what else, pizza, chicken wings, and a smore. It was nutritional disaster. It was overwhelming and all of it was homemade I didn't even attempt to log it.
I guess, during the Holidays I'm going to expect days like that.
Not only that I'm doing a self imposed excersise dead week to help get rid of this cold, and to heal up.
Once I am home from work for the Christmas break things will get better. I'll have more time to excersise, and have more control over what is being put in front of me. So, while I kind of feel bad, I enjoyed it.0 -
