Aspartame

I have been trying to avoid Aspartame. I have gave up on Diet Soda altogether,but now i am noticing that it is in a lot of things that i like to eat :noway: It is really bad that it is in yogurt.

Who else is avoiding Aspartame?

    I do not add nutrasweet/asparatame to anything on purpose. There are a few items I buy for convenience that happen to have sucralose or similar in the ingredient list, but usually I will go with pure sugar instead of the fake stuff. I don't like the taste and I don't trust it (nothing to back me up there, just how I think).

    I have recently started using truvia in my tea at home. It does taste fake like other sweeteners but I feel better that it is not chemical based.

    i'm allergic so I have to read pretty much anything i eat. ANY artificial and some natural sweeteners like stevia give me MIGRAINES!

    So you just gotta get used to reading ALL labels.

    I try to. I was an avid coke zero drinker. I quit this month. I use to have terrible leg cramps all the time. They are gone. Like really gone. I think it was the aspartame. Leg cramps are a side effect. I'm going to stay away from it.

    I quit aspartame years ago. I just buy normal stuff. You have to keep an eye out for it. Specially if it is touted as healthy or low calorie. Make it a habit to read the labels. You can do it.

    I try to avoid it. I find it gives me headaches and stomach aches. It is in a lot of stuff too... :(

    I found that Aspartame has been screwing with my metabolism, I think.

    I hate to be an armchair scientist, but what I feel like is happening is that my body is reacting to food intake- but there are no real calories. It ends up making me lethargic because I am tired. It slows down weight loss because my body doesn't seem to understand that I need to burn some stored fat to make up the difference.

    With a little research, I found that both aspartame and sucralose have insulin related issues- but that stevia extracts do not. I have switched to Truvia , mixing it with a little bit of sugar to take the edge off the licorice taste found in the sweetener. I'm digging it.

    I wish more drinks were made with stevia, probably in a few years it will be more common.

    I just realized that diet pepsi is a food trigger. I was fine all day yesterday with my foods until I drank one. I'm guessing it's the aspartame.

    Yup, it ain't right and I don't care how many studies point otherwise.

    I'd rather have sugar, really.
