6 Months of MFP and 30 very stubborn pounds lost.

Today marks my 175th day on MFP and today I hit the 30lbs lost milestone. I started back in Feb. and I lost 25 lbs almost instantly, I think it only took me 2 1/2 months. I mean the pounds dropped of FAST!! Then all of a sudden, the scale wouldnt budge for almost 4 months - no losses!!!! Ugh! Talk about frustrating... I stayed within my goals, drown myself in water, took all my vitamins, exercised as much as I had energy for and NOTHING! Then, with the help and advice of some of my MFP friends, I made a few changes - I UPPED my calories and dropped my carb intake. I was on a low carb plan anyway (prescribed by Dr. due to med issues) but I dropped it a little bit lower and cut out more of the processed foods I was eating. That seems to have done the trick for now because I lost the next 5 lbs pretty quickly as well. I still have a LONG way to go!!! I have about 50lbs left to lose but I am hanging in there. The stories on this board, my MFP friends, and my family have been very supportive and inspirational. Hopefully soon, I will post my final "Success Story" with before and after pics after my goal has been met.

Very exciting day for you! Two great milestones, whoo-hoo! I've also recently tried upping my calories and eating more protein. So far with success. Thank you for staying with MFP for 175 days, and sharing your story.0

That's awesome! Tell me how you lost your first 25 pounds in 2 1/2 months. What exactly did you do?
I may be expecting too much at first, but I started first with exercising 3 times a week, and not changing my eating at first. Then I started changing my eating habits about the 4th of July. By July 12th, I had lost 5 pounds. Now since July 12th the scale has not moved. I notice a change in my clothes fitting better, and I see a change in my mid-section, but the scale is not budging! With the exception of 1 cheat day per week, I have been staying at 1200 calories, and if I exercise, I add extra calories, still to get me back to 1200 for the day.
I probably need to cut processed foods out, the main thing I've been eating at lunch is lunch meat about 2-3 oz - even though I know this is high in sodium, (on 1 slice of bread and 1 piece of cheese) with reduced fat cheez-its, yogurt and carrots for mid day snacks.
Any suggestions?0 -
That's wonderful and just what I needed to hear. I am stuck again at my 33 lb. loss and I think from looking on here that I'm eating too few calories! I will try the carb cut and upping other calories and see if that helps me too. Good luck with your continued weight loss! We can do it, it's just not as easy as it seems sometimes.0

I had been on weight watchers for about a year and I gained 30lbs. I also had a long drawn out battle with my Dr. Finally, I changed Dr.'s and found out I have Hypothyroidism, PCOS, and Insulin Resistance. My endo said that lowering calories wasnt enough. He put me on a low carb diet plan - 50 net or less. I was also doing C25K at the time. From the day I started LC and C25K, the weight fell off. I mean, I would get on the scale and be half a pound down almost every day. It was fantastic!!! The carbs that I DO enjoy are typically in the form of fresh fruit, veggies, and chia seeds. Of course, the chia almost doesnt count because its all fiber. I do enjoy my sugar free ice cream bars and low carb tortillas but I cut out everything white - refined sugar, flour, rice, etc. I also have a slight gluten intolerance so that is another reason for me to keep my carbs low. Despite the plateau, I feel much better, so that is great. My calories were set at 1600. I recently put them up to 1800 and dropped the carbs to around 30 net. I also introduced coconut oil as a supplement and for cooking and chia seeds to my diet. I also limit my sugar free snacks like candy and ice cream bars, etc. It seems like this has definitely helped shake something loose. I'll go with it until I stall out again and then I will try something else.
Good luck you you!0
