Stop smoking, gained weight, need to lose weight

Hi, since March 2012, I quit smoking and have realized I have gained 15 + pounds  , since. I cannot wear majority of my clothes. It is depressing when I think about I have done one good thing BUT ONLY to trigger another bad thing, excess weight. I guess it is true, once you stop smoking you will tend to eat/snack more in place of smoking. I have started to pay close attention to what is going into my mouth. I do not want to eat bland foods; therefore, I am going to watch my proportions and calorie intake. I would like to have others, in my position, to be friends with on this journey for encouragement and food/snack suggestions. Good luck to everyone on their goals.

Even if you are totally vigilant on what you put in your mouth after quitting smoking, you still could gain up to 15 lbs naturally since your metabolism changes. I'm glad you are not so totally discouraged into smoking again due to the weight gain!! I see that happen sooooo many times and I guess I was just never that vain to do that.....I gained alot of weight when I quit smoking over 3 years ago.....but I was never going back!! Doctors say that you have to be approximately 100 lbs overweight to have the same ill effects on your health as does smoking so just 15 pounds isn't gonna matter much.
Stay strong and I wish you well on your road to good health! )0 -
