so I am a college freshman at my age. I would love some college friends here also. I have to do a summary on a chapter of a book I am reading. would it be easier to write one line at a time on what its about? how many lines should I write? its been a long time since I've done summaries. any helpful note taking advice would be great.

Don't be afraid to ask questions like this to your instructor. They understand that you have been out of school for a long time.

I can't offer much advice here, because I don't know what your particular instructor expects. (I'm a new student too)

In college, you have to go into greater detail. Merely discussing what the book is about is elementary school. Discuss the greater implications of this chapter in the scheme of the entire book. Look at symbolism, metaphors, similes, etc. What is the essence of this chapter?

I always have a recorder with me in classes that are mostly lecture. Then I listen to it later and supplement my in-class notes accordingly. Many times, the professors will say awesome things like "This WILL be on the exam" make sure to note that!!!

I don't have any specific advice about your homework, but definitely don't be scared to talk to your professors about this, and remember that there are NO dumb questions. I have been back in school for almost two years now, and I am acing my classes because I

    a) always attend
    b) always take notes, then supplement with recorder at home
    c) do all the reading and all the homework
    d) ask questions and participate in class discussions

Great job going back to school! I know how hard it is.

its bible college which makes it more complicated. I am to write a summary of each chapter in the book of Isiaha right now. maybe read the chapter 1 and write down the theme of the chapter about the characters in it maybe? what they are all about? good thing its self paced.
