I want to lose 20-30 pounds in a month, is it possible?

I'm wondering if I'm being a little to hopeful in my fitness goals. Since I've joined myfitnesspal a week ago I have been exercising non stop and watching what I eat. I have also hired a personal trainer. My goal is to lose 20-30 pounds by the beginning of fall, but I have a feeling it won't happen. I weigh 183.5 and I want nothing more than to drop the 25 pounds I've put on this last year. Is it possible, has anyone had any rapid success? Please help me! What can I do to make it happen? Any advice would be appreciated.

You're not that overweight so that is a pretty unrealistic goal if you want to lose in a healthy manner. I saw a general guideline posted today:
BMI 32+: 2 lbs/week or slightly more
BMI 30-32: 1.5 lbs/week
BMI 28-30: 1 lb/week
BMI 25-28: 0.5 lbs/week
It's not perfect but it's a good starting point for safe weight loss.0 -
If you did I don't think it would be healthy.0

It's near on impossible, and as soon as you go back to normal eating habits, the weight will go straight back on.
You can definitely see a difference in 4 weeks, especially if you do the right exercises, but please please don't crash diet!

Sounds like you are on the right track. I lost 35 lbs last year in 3 months. My daughter lost 50 on Weight Watchers in 6 months. The main thing is to stick to a healthy way of eating for life and the exercising kicks in and firms up and takes off inches. It sounds like a reasonable plan as long as you don't get discouraged. It is better to take off the weight slowly and then you will more than likely keep it off. I'm praying for you to reach your goal and maintain your weight for life. ;-)0

It's possible, but not advisable. The quicker it comes off the quicker or comes back. Losing that much weight so quickly unless you are morbidly obese is setting yourself up to lose muscle and other important parts. I have followed "diets" that call for quick loss, and that meant really depriving myself. I didn't last and of course once I had what I wanted again, it came right back. Just be patient. I keep telling myself that it didn't take a month or two for me to gain, so I have to be patient. In the mean time, rock what you have. Flaunt it!0

i don't think it's impossible. i watch extreme makeover weight loss edition and though most of the participants weigh a lot more than you i'm sure, i'm in the mind set that anything is possible and even if you don't reach the 25 pound mark, you can get close0
