High calorie / low heart rate workout

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get back into this!!!

So here's my question. I just got back from the gym where I did 1 hour of treadmill on speed 6, incline 10. From where I was standing it was one hell of a workout and burned 600 calories ... I REALLY felt like I was working hard. But whenever I checked my heartrate (around every 10 minutes or so during the work out) it was either 120 or below. Which seems very low compared to what I'm used to, and on the graph thing on the treadmill that was in the yellow 'low intensity' zone.

Does this mean I'm doing something wrong? Should my heartrate be higher to be achieving better (weightloss) results or is it the caloric burning that really counts?

Your help and wisdom is much appreciated!

Did you check your heart rate on the sensors or by hand (counting beats)? If you used the sensor than I would say the sensor was off, that sounds like a heavy workout to be under 120.

Hey, thanks, maybe that's it - it was with the sensor!
