I didn't see this question until now and don't know why this question would offend anyone but, I wonder the same thing. you can say it about any age. I work with 4 yr old kids and they don't have any respect for their parents. The expect everything all the time! No, is never in the parents' vocabulary. They don't want to "fight the fight". Yes, a parent has said those words. I believe in choosing your battles but come on! And my 18 yr old nephew has absolutely no respect for my brother and his wife. It burns me up when I go over there. They are the same way though, anything so he won't flip out and he knows it so he manipulates. I've got 3 of my own (grown now) and they don't act like that!

Kids aren't kids very long anymore because they are expose to things at such an early age. Sex especially is all over tv. Most kids have some sort of electronic device they can access Internet with at a early age.

More parents are working so you have less SAHM. More parents leave their children home alone because they can't afford child care for a child who legally can be home alone. So they leave them so they can go to work.

School system is no better. They are expecting our children to grow up faster also. Last year my oldest daughter was in 7 th grade. The school was already pressure them to start deciding what career they want to go into. Plus the school work kids do now in middle school is what I was doing my senior year of high school. So even work wise we are expecting our children to know more.

Society is robbing our children of their. Hold hood and we are letting them.
