Going sugar free?

Hey fellow MFPers!
This summer I am working at a summer camp. The amount of sugar/over processed junk here is insane. Two weeks into the summer, I decided to go off all that. (So not stuff in moderation... Just none of it.) I decided its just better to not put that stuff in my body.
Going off sugar has actually been really difficult. Sugar hides in EVERYTHING. While I'm not necessarily avoiding all sugar (fruits are good and sometimes sugar sneaks in and I can't help it when that is all that's served.) I am trying to avoid most of it.
Has anyone else gone sugar free or basically sugar free?

I did a month of no sugar just to see if I could. You're right, there's sugar and corn syrup in everything processed. Or at least it seems that way. The cravings that hit you in the beginning are going to be murder. Especially working at a summer camp. The good news is that your body will get over it after a couple weeks. The bad thing is that you are pretty much going to be turning down everything you did not make yourself. So pretty much all you'll get to eat is fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat. Which is actually an incredibly healthy diet.
So no bread, pasta, or essentially anything in a bag or box that has ingredients....

I previously went hard-core sugar free (for a health reaction triggered by hyperthyroid) - no refined sugar, no fruit (for 6 weeks), no yeasted breads etc. I was working 14-16 hours/day at a desk job and lost 5 lbs in 5 weeks....some was likely muscle mass loss, but I also noticed at least a few lbs off my belly!
The first week I was EXHAUSTED and could barely move, but by week 3 I had more energy than I've ever had in my life. I cheated once or twice and each time would feel exhausted again within minutes.
I'm currently doing a modified version (not worrying about fruits, especially berries), cutting out all refined sugar and yeasted bread products. Although I cheat a little with HP sauce.
It's super hard when doing it at home, so can't imagine how hard it would be while not only away from home, but having no control over your food PLUS all that tasty, tempting food right in front of you! Good luck.
