What awkward/surreal/hilarious moments have you guys had that have had to do with weight loss/fitness?

I saw an old fling from my freshman year of college for the first time in a few years (which is weird, since we ran into each other in a city neither of us live), and he does a double take, smiles his most charming "yeah, I'm still 6 4 and fit and adorable" smile, and the conversation starts like this.

Him: Hey!

And he comes in for a hug.

Me: Hey, it's been a while. How've you been?

Him: I've been good. Finished school. Got a job. The usual. But you. Wow. You look amazing.

Me: Thanks.

Him: Really. You're... wow... have you lost weight or something?

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. Have I lost weight or something? The last he saw me, I was 92 lbs heavier. LOL

I have been hit on by more dudes ...

If I here one more time 'do you work out" by another random dude when I am not with my hot wife and 2 and half year old son I dont know what I am going to do.

I am not offended, just awkward.

Also, I have had people say some kind of dumb I should take it hurtful comments.

A client of mine did a double take she had not seen me in over a year (before I started this) and she did a double take and the first thing that came to her mouth was the first thing she said "Wow you are hot now" lol ... Yeah it is a compliment but man it is kind of not.

I know how that is. I've gotten that, too. But from a guy friend I used to have a thing for. But he just wasn't interested. Shame. Cuz I'm not interested now. lol

Someone recently asked me in a whispered voice if I was "sick"

I was like, "No...I'm purposely losing weight."

And she said, "Thank God, I thought maybe you had cancer."

Yes we are of the same club... I have had people ask my friends / co workers / family the same thing ... Usually dont ask me but my friends family always tell me who asked.

I was pretty shocked because I haven't lost THAT much weight but this person hadn't seen me in a few months. Very odd to be asked that.
  • Obvious he never really knew you. When you change, those who knew you before and didnt care for who you are still do not matter. It is not what you look like, but who you are and what you do that matters.

That's pretty awesome. I did have one person ask me once if I "caught something" from a patient. I tried to explain that patients are more likely to catch something from a nurse than the other way around, but the person (one of my mother's friends) was pretty insistent on me getting checked out. Hah.

I'm a nurse too! And you are very correct!

I get a lot of odd looks and chest thumps when I'm going for max out on bench press, even had a small crowd around me the one day.

Outside of that most embarrassing moment I've had at the gym was realising that my shorts weren't as long as I had originally thought :blushing: Sorry for the show folks :blushing: ... since then I now where full length workout pants hahaha

Not a bad idea actually! I've been using spandex shorts for most of my exercising and love them, but for yoga...not too thrilled about that yet haha! Maybe some spanex pants are in order. :p

I think one of my colleagues is trying to tell me something!

I found an eating disorder helpline card in my in-tray yesterday. LMAO, still have about 15 pounds to go.

They've got two-in-one shorts now that have a spandex shorts layer and a breathable shorts layer. I love them 'cause I'm lazy.

I've run into a bunch of people from high school who haven't recognized me. I always recognize them, but then I have to re-introduce myself. I've started just avoiding them because that's more awkwardness than I want to put up with.

With one of them, it actually turned out that we work in the same office, but he didn't even recognize me with my almost-completely-unique last name printed in BIG BOLD LETTERS on my uniform. :P

    Yep, been there...

When I was first licensed as a Realtor, I went to as many social functions as I could trying to get my name out there and get a mentor. When I lost 50 lbs last year, I went to a social function where I came in contact with a ton of vendors and there were also a ton of Realtor's there too (gotta get that swag...)

Anyway, I had so many men coming on to me it was just strange. Then I ran into some people that I'd worked with previously when I was newly licensed that didn't even recognize me. I look totally different now than I did heavier (check my pictures on my profile).

Now when I catch glances while out and about with the man, I can see him glaring back. I love it!

Ha! Yes! I have these amazing gray pants I won't wear because of the same issue. I have no qualms destroying a shirt but butt sweat Id like to hide. Lol.
I've also lost my pants during the fast and furious early days. I was dropping weight do quick. Doing a cardio class and sliiiiip! So embarrassing
