Dieting -- Food

This is the first time I have ever dieted. When making dinner what proteins are best and what carbs are bad? I know this is something simple. But i need something cut and dry that kind of gives me things to make! I have no idea what to make for dinner tonight!

thanks!

Make whatever you want as long as it fits into your calories!

Unless you have an intolerance there is no need to only eat certain foods or leave out certain foods.

Its not a matter of good vs Bad. Is it just you for dinner? Eat some scrambled eggs and a piece of whole grain toast! Baked chicken breast and a sweet potato or reg potato and brocolli or other green veggie. There are lots of things to eat. Just make sure that it fits in your calories for the day. I sometimes try out a couple of things in the food diary to see what fits before I decide.
  • I'd like to eat foods that are healthy and will give me the protein and nutrients i need
  • It's me and my fiance.

    lean meats chicken, turkey, fish
    fresh veggies and salads
^^^these are all healthy choices but remember this is a lifestyle change not a diet. as long as you're not intolerant or have allergies to certain foods...yummy things like pasta, rice and breads can be added in moderation. educate yourself as to what a proper portion size is and make sure whatever foods you choose fit into your calorie goal. stay away from deep fried foods slathered in butter.
