I would say after it makes more sense. Then you really know how much your eating.

It depends. If the item says something like roasted or broiled, you measure after. If it says raw, measure before.

Cooked meat weighs less because water and "juices" cook out of it.

Some entries in the database refer to raw meat and some refer to cooked. If you can't tell whether that entry is for raw or cooked, find another one.

Chicken - Breast, meat only, raw

That's how I take it, since I toss it in boiling water without adding anything anyway.

I weigh before cooking. But obviously add in calories of any oil, marinade or breading you are using.

Can't go wrong if you weigh it raw...I just got a scale and I couldn't believe how much 3oz of ground chuck really is...it's quite a bit.

Chicken? I usually weight it cooked.

I do it after (make sure you choose the "cooked" option) and add in any oil, butter, or marinades I use as separate line items.

    Really? Why?

Strange enough, I like it  I do eat tuna (in water) out of can as well. It's either me getting lazy or enjoying simplest tastes. My salads and soups are usually my most complex dishes compared to the rest. Unless I start baking again... I refuse to -.-
