I am doing P90X, and from what I am reading and experiencing, it seems to be pretty common to not lose weight or possibly gain weight when doing a strength training regiment.

So, fine, I'll throw the scale out and go with how I feel...but anyone GAINED weight in muscle but still LOST dress/pant sizes??

I just really want to be one size smaller!!!:noway:

Following NROLFW, I stayed the same weight for weeks at a time, and by the time I had dropped 3 pounds on the scale, I had dropped not one, but TWO jeans sizes (from an 18 to a 14).

Yes, a beginner to strength training eating around maintenance will gain a bit of muscle\water\nutrients stored in muscles weight while losing fat causing actual weight to stay the same.

I know that's frustrating but awesome at the same time

I was frustrated with the scale, but it was easier to accept when the pants were so much smaller. I saw noticeable changes in the mirror pretty quickly too. Now the scale's finally dropped (about 7 lb. since I started lifting weight), but the size 14 jeans still fit. It will all come in time...

I have been at it since March...mostly running but doing some other things and a little lifting. I have lost 6 pounds (all in July). However, I have dropped from a size 10 to a size 6. I bought the size 6 pants thinking thats the goal. They didnt fit when I bought them at the end of April...this weekend I am going to look for new pants again, as I am falling out of the size 6 ones I bought. However, the scale doesnt reflect what my clothes obviously show.

Measure yourself! I have been exercising and watching what I eat now for 1 month and so far I have only 3.5 pounds; however in just one week (since I took measurements) I have dropped 1 inch in both thighs. It is very discouraging to not see that much of a change on the scale so if you need motivation than measure; it keeps me motivated especially when I am able to put pants on that I haven't been able to wear in years!

    ~ Good luck
