I have been researching HRMs and found a few I like. I want to use the HRM in the pool. The problem is that while the "watch" part is waterproof for the ones I like, I can't tell if the chest strap can be submerged. I've looked on the Suunto and Polar sites and can't find that information.

For any of you that use a HRM, which do you use? Do you know if the chest strap can be submerged? If not, do you know of a brand that allows the band to be submerged or of a brand that does not use the chest strap?

Thank you!

I have a polar F7 and the chest strap itself is supposed to be put in the washing machine once a week, and I've seen somewhere on this site that it is waterproof. Did a web search and found something about some pool chemicals messing with the transmission of data though. I don't swim so I"m sure someone else will chime in.

    Hope this helps

I have a Polar RS100 and it can be used in the pool. I only tried it once and it kept getting twisted on me. I think I had the strap too loose. Was going to give it another try this weekend.

I've heard that the polar ones can be worn underwater. The only warning is not to touch any buttons on the watch while underwater. Also heard that its not near as accurate underwater. No personal experience but some of the things I ran into while researching what heart rate monitor to buy for myself.
