Problems with Soy

Has anyone experienced problems with taking Soy? I made the switch from Organic milk to Soy milk about a year ago and also started the Body by Vi shakes about 5 months ago. My cousin mentioned to me that she doesn't like Body by Vi because it is soy based and that soy is not good for women during child bearing age. I have very irregular cycles for about 8 months now and also am experiencing excessive sweating. I am wondering if it is the soy that is causing these problems for me. Has anyone experienced these problems? Also, does anyone know of a good protein/meal replacement that doesn't contain so much soy? Thanks!

I've heard that the estrogen in soy can be bad for women. I don't know if that's been proven. I am lactose intolerant so I don't do a whole lot of dairy and was using soy milk to cook and on cereal. I switched to almond milk and haven't looked back. It's sooo good. and a serving of the chocolate almond milk kills my craving for sweets :)
  • An excess of soy can cause tons of issues... Google it. No "proven" studies on the effects of excess soy, but tons of personal experiences. My daughter is lactose intolerant and was on soy milk for a while, messed up her thyroid function and she stopped gaining weight at all, and she was barely 1 year old. Once I switched her to lactose-free whole milk, her thyroid normalized and she started gaining appropriately again.
