Looking to lose fear and gain strength, Part I

I joined the site a bit ago but have just now starting making myself at home. I've spent this week and last week planning better meals (and adhering to them) and exercising at a newly-joined gym with my boyfriend. It's been great! Usually I have to kick my *kitten* to get into the gym, but I've been excited from the start, perhaps because this is the first time I've been able to go with my BF. (We had a long distance relationship for 3 years). He only has a short amount of weight to lose but is fully supportive of my goals and wants to get there with me.
My priority from the get-go is to aim for gaining strength in myself, and losing the fear of not succeeding with my goals or participating in exciting opportunity. If you're interested in reading a more in-depth version of the above, check out my blog I recently start (I find them inspiring myself, so I thought maybe one day I can do that for someone else) - http://laneywandering.blogspot.com/
I recently bought my first real work-out gear that was better and more than just sweat pants and a sport bra. I'll consider this my 'Before' shot: (the shirt was supposed to be black, not worth the effort of returning)
I'm 21 years old, I have about 160 LBS to lose. I am at my highest weight ever, 290 LBS, looking to reach 130 LBS (I'm 5'3) along the way to a healthier life. I am definitely accepting any friends who may be in the same predicament (it's great finding those with same age/build/weight-to-lose) but as long as you're positive and not destructive, feel free to add me!
Oh ya, my name is Whitney My boyfriend calls me Laney (middle name is Lane) - hence why I called my blog 'Laney Wandering'
So - what's your story? Do you hope to feel strong and not held back one day?
