hey everyone, newbie here started dieting on sunday
i weighed myself today and have somehow lost 7.4 lbs, surely this is too much for 5 days? i know you lose alot of water in your first week, and that it isn't sustainable, but just some reassurance would be nice
also, i know i need to eat more calories because at the minute i'm at about 500 after exercise, i'm just finding it so difficult to eat more, i dont know what to eat to increase my calories.
any suggestions?

I know what you mean, trying to find it hard to eat more.. I don't wanna eat tons cos I still feel bloated and fatty! I think a couple of lbs of it is fat, don't keep your eyes on the scales, everyones wieght fluctuates, so one day you could weigh after a heavy meal the night before, then weigh after a light meal and there will be a noticeable difference!
Good luck!0 -
Over 22 years Ive done so many weightloss plans I once weighed 144lbs and in my first week (weightwatchers) I lost 10lbs! next week 1lb then stayed the same but then lost 1-2lbs a week.
In 2010 I did weightwatchers I was 244lbs I lost 6lbs week 1
This I lost 4lbs week one
I think it depends on lots of factors BUT dont eat to low as you may stop losing someone with more experience at eating less and losing will come along and help
Well done heres to the next week x0 -
Don't worry about it - it will be mainly water loss, as mentioned. In my first 10 days I think I lost about 14lbs. I then slowed down to more of a steady loss-rate
Give it maybe 1 month and you will soon figure out what to expect each week and how much to eat / how hard to exercise!0 -
Welcome.
It's very motivational when you see a big number like that. Don't be too put off if the numbers are low next week, it'll all even out nicely as time goes on.
Best of luck with your journey.0 -
Thanks everyone, I hope a big loss this week doesn't mean I only lose an ounce next week! Lol. All of you are doing so well, I'm so motivated and excited for when I can say I've lost as much weight as some of you0

I was thinking the same thing this morning.. I weight myself at work an i was at 196.8 and I got on today (just for kicks) and It said 191.8 ???? I was thinking the scale was wrong. but after reading these post I now know that its just water weight... that was a lot of water!!0

It is probably mostly water weight yeah. MFP kinda makes us all eat healthier (automatically less sodium) and also drink more water (helps flush out water and sodium so we retain less).
No, next week, do not be SHOCKED if you GAIN weight. Will probably just be water fluctuations. What matters is the TREND.0 -
