Committing to a diet
Hi, this is my first time using the forum. I have exercised regularly for most of my life. However, I always struggle to commit to a diet. Recently, I’ve been eating a lot of crap food late at night and drinking a lot of beer. So, I wanna set some goals and make some changes. First, I’d like to lose a little weight, even…

Food over medication
Hello, I have been fit most all my life. An athelete in high school and college at about 165 lbs. Stabilized in my 30s around 180 lbs with running and resistance training (I was 5'11"). Now approaching 60 years old, I had a serious accident 3 years ago and ruptured L1, L2, L3 and L4. I am down to 5'9" and now up to 220…

My shorties, how much do y'all eat?
I'm 5'1 and 101 lbs. I've been slowly trying to up my calories/hover around maintenance. I'm eating about 1,700 calories (used to eat 1,500-1,600), lift 4x a week, and try to get my steps or light cardio in. Being short it's hard not to pack on the weight quick! Any tips for lean bulking without gaining too fast? I've…

Hoping to lose 20 pounds
I put on 20 pounds after the pregnancy. I found that my weight stays the same even though I am trying to eat a little bit less than before and be more active. I miss these days when I didn’t need to worry about my weight.

Update 3/18/23
Started out 2023 with weight up very high, highest I've been in years. Last fall my mother was in and out of the hospital 3 times from Sept to Dec 24. I'm a stress eater and combining that with the holidays lead to so much junk food being eaten at work and at home. It got to the point where I was always hungry. Started…

Midnight Bacon for Weight Loss & Budgeting/Recipe Ideas
Hi everyone! I am Angie and before we begin I apologize for my math as it is only meant to be ballpark and not really approximations. But on to why you clicked this.... When I lost the biggest amount of weight, I was keto and eating bacon at midnight. Yup, midnight bacon was a common term in my household at the time. By…

Hello! Nice to meet you!
I joined myfitnesspal to help track my macros. And to track my micros as well. Before I would plan out the day with pencil and paper. Very time consuming! Since using myfitnesspal, I have made significant progress in the gym. I have made it down to 16% body fat which I never thought I would have in my life. I enjoy…

More natural food, more weight loss?
I have observed one thing about "food type" and weight loss in my "regaining health" journey. The more natural the food (boiled, steamed, home cooked), the easier it is to lose weight. I lost pounds rapidly when I was eating this type of food. Then in the last couple of weeks, I switched to equally low calorie, but more…

I thought this might be fun! I find these sorts of things to be both motivating and comforting, and I like reading them as much as I like writing my own! Feel free to include your food and workouts, but other stuff is interesting too! I love seeing how other people spend their days. Here's mine, for today. You don't have…

Soy-Free Food Recommendations?
After 6 gruelling years of undiagnosed back pain and vomitting, I have finally discovered the source of my misery: soy intolerance. Some websites have mentioned some foods that don't contain soy, but they really aren't exhaustive. I hate cooking, so I tend to buy prepackaged meals. Does anyone else have soy intolerance and…

How much should I eat before morning lift?
I normally lift in the afternoon/evening but need to switch it for vacation. I've struggled with morning lifts before feeling weak. If I eat a 300 calorie breakfast, how long should I wait to lift? 1.5 hour? Do I need more or less? (I'm 101 lbs)

Preworkout breakfast recipes?
I normally workout in the afternoon so I need some good ideas that will fuel me up 3 hours before my lifting session without weighing me down. I was thinking greek yogurt parfait? I normally eat a light breakfast so not sure how much to eat. :)

Any tips on increasing appetite?
Anyone have any tips on increasing appetite? Mine just isn’t here lately. Like I felt really full today and thought I did really well in terms of eating enough calories. Turns out it was less than 1200, and MFP suggests my goal should be 1800 per day. There’s no way I can cram 600 more calories into my body today, but how…

Increasing calories as you exercise more?
My doctor started me on a 1,200 calorie/day diet as I was very sedentary due to a severe back issue. My back is getting better and I have begun to do some moderate waliking 3-5 times a week. How do I know how many extra calories to add? Also, how much protein should I be striving for?

Need breakfast ideas, please help
So I’ve been working with a nutritionist lately trying to gain some weight, and she suggested I try some new things for breakfast. Looking for balanced ideas. Bonus points if they can be prepped the night before. I also have IBS (yay 😞) so I need something that’s relatively easy to digest. Thanks in advance!
