Calories/protein for recomp
Hi all, Hope you are doing well. This is my first post and I am quite new to the nutrition/working out world. I actually hit the gym for some years in my teenager times, but put no attention whatsoever to nutrition as I just did it to do some physical activity. Now I am a 22yo male and I have started working out about 2…

Not Enough Nutrition?
Some days I do find myself not eating as much as I probably should, and by using the myfitnesspal to track my calories they finally let me know that yesterday. Yesterday I was off work. We had a lot of errands to run and got busy. I ate like one meal the entire day and that was it. Granted that one meal consisted of just…

Meal kits and weight loss?
Has anybody been using meal delivery kits in their weight loss journey? I’ve been using EveryPlate, personally. It’s nice to just be able to plug it into the app and know what I’m eating each week? Plus it’s relatively cheap compared to buying things I won’t end up using anyway

Quick 150 Calorie Breakfast
One of my favorites is a bowl of fruit and a lip-numbing, extra spicy virgin bloody mary. Bloody Iguana is my absolute fave mix and I've tried dozens of different bloodys. This one is super spicy right from the bottle, gluten-free and only 27 calories. Pour over crushed ice and dilute with water. Can life get better?…

No Surprise - Sucralose is Bad for You
And why am I not surprised by this story? https://newsweek.com/artificial-sweetner-sucralose-dna-damage-1804008 I mean seriously, how many times have we found out eventually that man-made food ingredients do more harm than good? Funny thing, there is a simple way to determine (though not definitively) if something is okay…

Nutrition advice needed for Marathon Training
I have signed up for a marathon that takes place in November 2023. This will be my second marathon. My first was in April of this year. I did it in 4 hours and 17 minutes. How to deal with negativity about calorie tracking?
I am constantly get ringed out for weighing my food or for saying no to foods at gatherings. I have been serious about tracking and weight lifting, but my family or peers don't seem to understand it (or my goals). I'm also dreading Easter dinner because my husband's family constantly tells me how I'm already thin or nit…

A possible game-changer for weight loss
Emerging research reported… “ Sean Gibbons, a microbiome specialist and assistant professor at the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, said the new study was striking because it indicates that people could lose weight and body fat simply by switching to a diet that targets their gut microbiomes, even without…

Asian Recipes That Fit Macros - Survey
When I was weight lifting regularly, I found myself hating most of the recipes that were recommended on weight lifting forums. I love cooking and could be described as a “foodie” so eating chicken and broccoli variations with little flavor was incredibly depressing. I ended up creating a huge spreadsheet of my favorite…

Hi, looking to lower weight down below 80kg within 2 weeks
Hi, I have some family and a set of nephews/nieces visiting in a couple of weeks and I want to look presentable. I’m a 34 years old male, 183 cm tall, weighing 86.8kg and most of the fat is stored around my belly. I have weak upper strength (I have never been able to do a single pull-up/chin-up before) and I am looking to…

Bento Box/Food Containers for Packing Lunch
Hi Everyone, I'm looking to start doing better meal prep for myself each week and want advice on best bento boxes or food containers for healthy portion sizes. I've been using some dollar store containers, but most of them are awkwardly shaped and wear out quickly; it's time to invest in something a little sturdier. Does…

Ready to Eat Grocery Store Items
I am looking for 2-3 suggestions per meal/snack for ready to eat items from the store for back up options when I just don’t feel like doing more than a 5 minute prep for a meal. MY MOTIVATIONAL PHRASES: EAT FROM THE EARTH, NOT FROM THE STORE
HOW TO STOP HATING YOUR DIET My own advice I need to follow If the food in the store is from the earth, of course you're fine. The trouble is PACKAGED food. The royals do not eat any packaged food, so I tell myself that I'm eating like a royal. Tell yourself it's simple and easy to stop eating bad food even though it feels…

Tips on Logging Restaurant Meals (when nutrition info is available)
Hey Y'all! I've been trying to be pretty mindful about logging just about everything I eat lately. I even go as far as weighing most of my food to ensure accuracy. Recipe Pet Peeve.
My apologies in advance. Mini rant: You know what is an awesome cooking tip? Only rating and praising an online recipe after you've made and/or tried the recipe. When we lose weight, where does it go?
I was curious, so I looked it up, watched a fascinating Ted Talk about the mathematics of weight loss and learned this: 84% of fat is exhaled as CO2 (carbon dioxide) 16% of fat is excreted as H20 (water) Not sure if it's accurate, but it was really interesting, and definitely over my head!
