First Cold Since Diagnosed
So I have my first cold since I was diagnosed in July. I did not think to ask my endo what cold medications I could use in July. I am wondering what some of the more experienced T2 use when they get sick. Thanks in advance.

Where is everyone?
When I joined this group this fall I did so because there seemed to be so many supportive people. I was really attracted to the info you shared about T2 and your encouragement. I miss that now. Except for a few of us posting BG readings, we seem so inactive. How about we reach out more to one another as we motivate each…

recent diagnosis
I went to a new endocrinologist about a month ago, and she diagnosed me with uncontrolled diabetes. Although, I have been a type 2 diabetic for years, this hit me very hard. I am already on 1000 metformin 2 x a day, 20 units of humalong 2 x a day, and levimir 55 units at bedtime. She also added Victoza, however, I was not…

39 and Just Diagnosed
Well, here I am! Not excited, but it is what it is and I am going to control this. I've known for a long time it was possible. My mom was diagnosed at 40. My grandfather lost his feet. I had Gestational Diabetes with both my girls. I've been on a low dose of Metformin for a year in hopes of containing the PreDiabetes. I…

Your Recent Labs
I thought we could have a thread where we share our recent labs. Most of us are getting labs done every three months. I met with my Endo this past Friday. In the last 6 months my a1c went from 7.0 to 6.1 to 5.7. I'm pretty happy about my results. My goal for January is 5.2.

End of year celebration time.
At the end of every year, I find something to celebrate about my health. Does anyone else do this? If you do , please share what you're celebrating at the end of 2014. Personally, it's been a great year. I've lost 18 lbs. this year for a total of 53 lbs. I'm 4 lbs. away from a healthy BMI now. I never thought I'd get here,…

What is a "normal A1C" for a T2 diabetic?
I'm asking this because I'm concerned about my father who has Type II diabetes. He was prediabetic in his late 40s. He didn't control it with diet and exercise. It became full-blown T2. Then he didn't test himself as he should have and control his A1C. He had a really bad endocrinologist who never really tested his A1C. At…

Not sure why my FBS was so high this morning
Hi everyone! So I have been doing better with my fbs but this morning it was 143. I don't take any medication. But it is generally below 130. I am not sure why so high today when i felt I had a good day yesterday. I ate below my calories and carbs. I walked around the grocery store and even did some exercise at home. I did…

What questions should I ask?
I see a dietician today. I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I want to ask her about the diet that would be right for me. I am not sure what else to ask.

From terrible to good labs in 16 weeks
I'm 52 and have been diagnosed with Type 2 for 10 years. I knew when I went in for labs on June 6, 2014 that the results would not be good. My doctor was really discouraged for me, and told me she couldn't really up my meds, the only thing I could do was diet and exercise. So I started on June 6, and 16 weeks later took my…

Roll Call! Just seeing who has been able to find the group after the forum change
Not loving the new forum, but I can't let that sidetrack me! I am trying to tap back into this great resource. This T2D community has been a great source of motivation and information for me. Anyway - who all is here? Happy Monday!

Does anyone else find the new boards...
... overly cumbersome? I mean, it's like 5 clicks to get back into the T2 group, up from the previous 2. Oh, and the giant 'Leave Group' button keeps tempting me, because I think it's View Group, based on it's prominence and it's location.

Carbs
I am new to T2D and the diabetic diet restrictions...I'm on a journey to lose 25#. I'm on a 1600 cal diet & 217 g of carbs...but that is for non diabetic...how many carbs should I limit myself to on a diabetic diet?

2 years below 6% for HbA1C
I was diagnosed as T2 in the Summer of 2012 (9.6%). I managed to get this down to 5.7% by the November. I just had my latest results back and 5.1%. So that is 2 years below the 6% level. All with diet and exercise, no meds. So it can be done folks. How? I lost 70lbs in the first 9 months and have stayed at this (plus or…

scale victory
For the first time in... yeah, it's been a long while. Definitely 10 years, probably 15. maybe even in the 18-20 range... I'm on the 'right' side of 300. I wasn't keeping as accurate records then as I am now... and I've slept since then. A lot. But yeah, it's been a while. You almost might say that it's been a long road,…

Feeling neasuous and can't finish workout
Hello everyone I'm John and I just joined this group just. I have type 2 diabetes I just found out earlier this week. It has been hard but I am managing as best I can with it. My main goal here is to lose weight and better my health. I'm not sure if it's the medication that could be causing this or the sudden change in…

Life expectancy and healthy life
I have read many stuffs about reduced life expectancy in diabetics. Are those stats related to poorly controlled diabetes? I am very much worried. I am very young and type 2 diabetic and I am doing my best to have a good control. Just worried about complications. Are these complications inevitable?

Different readings?

A1C News
I went in for a "follow up" doctor's appointment (which I really wasn't supposed to have, but I forgot to take it out of my appointment book) and was surprised when my doctor suggested doing an A1C in the office. I had no idea that they could give you the results in 6 minutes. In any event, I was diagnosed on the last day…

Low Blood Sugar at Night

I drank some juice and ate some food. 15 min later I was at 110 6 hrs later before breakfast I was still at 105. This is going to throw my whole day off on my calorie intake.…

Stuck!!
This is probably going to sound like a rant, but here goes: I've been stuck at the same weight for 2 or 3 weeks- just struggling to loose ounces, when the first 15 lbs. came off so easily. I know, I'm not as strict as I was when I first started out, but I'm more active than I was and am under my calorie goal just about…

Progress news
So, when I started, I thought that my a1c was 9.3. This is because I don't speak the local language well, and also the number format was what I expect from a1c, not fasting blood sugar. Starting results - September 4: Fasting blood sugar 168 A1C: ?? Today: Fasting blood sugar: 81 !!! A1C: 6.6 The doctor sounded really…

Carb Levels
Hi, everyone, I need a little help. So, i was "officially" diagnosed yesterday. I have an appointment with the Diabetes Educator on the 30th. I have a million questions and no one to ask them to! So I'm asking you a few: How many carbs should I shoot for? When you talk about LCHF diet, is there a specific one? I had done,…
