Activity level
So, I have been bulking for a few months and I plan to cut now.. so I need to calculate how many calories I should eat to do so. I am trying to do it based off of my TDEE using Scooby's calculator. What would my activity level be considered if I lift about 5 times a week, and do kickboxing & boxing 3 - 5 times a week?…

Hi! Excited about maintenance
Hi all I am very happy about the success I've had with MFP. I am at a fantastic weight/shape and very strong and just muscley enough to look athletic yet not scrawny. I'm 5'7" and 123lb. I've slowly been upping my maintenance cals. Started at 1500 but was still losing, then 1600 and have now bumped to 1700. I add my…

Lifting with an old neck injury
I turn 31 soon and I'm really close to my next weight step goal. I've come a long way in the last year and a half in terms of fitness and strength, and overcome a lot of fears about pain. I've had a neck injury for the last decade after an ex threw me against a wall. I think it was undiagnosed whiplash and it worsened over…

Would LOVE some EM2WL friends!
Hey Everyone!!! So I was introduced to this lifestyle a month ago after discovering the podcast fat2fitradio and decided just yesterday that I think I am mentally ready to begin. I would LOVE to have some supportive (female only) friends as I begin this journey!! Just some quick stats - I have been on MFP for over a year…

Getting back after a stomach virus...
Yesterday was awful. I could only tolerate 475 calories in all day. We'll see how today goes... Afraid this is going to mess with my TDEE... I'm on week 5 (last week I went up 0.7 due to the Halloween junk in my house... Should I go back to the TDEE- 15/20% vs shoot for my TDEE for a week?

Somebody Help me with NROLFW Stages of exercises.
I am unable to interpret them For Example Workout A at page 185 there is writen workout 1,2 on each row of a new exercise. Does 1 and 2 corresponds to weeks? Also do i have to perform A,B1,B2,C1,C2 and repeat? or is it going to be A,A B1,B2,B1,B2,C1,C2,C1,C2? Also why is there a workout B in the stage one. Ive read the…

Heybales - another SS question. Fitbit ht adjustment?
I was playing around with the newest version of the spreadsheet (10/30/13) as it has an updated Fitbit adjustment. I'm guessing it is to account for the female adjusted TDEE compared to male. Before this latest release, the SS indicated I should decrease my height 5 inches or so. The newest version suggests increasing my…

question of confidence for other women
I started reading NROLFW and tonight I went to the gym with intentions of starting to work with weights. I'm nervous, anxious...I can't seem to make myself feel comfortable using weights when no other women are. Where do I start? I'm so self-conscious. It seems the only people that use the weights (or machines for that…

Building muscle & cutting fat simultaneously possible?
Just wondering I've been lifting very heavy for the last two months and eating like crazy. I'm ready to cut some fat but I don't want see loss in my lifts. I have started a diet I found online, very clean and very very high in protein, It has me at 160 ish grams per day. with 100-150 grams carbs perday depending on wether…

Focus on NET BMR?
I'm contemplating on changing the way I've been doing things. I've stalled quite a bit, and even gained a few pounds since a few weeks ago. I'm not focusing on that so much, but really, it's important that I start losing some body fat before I start focusing on gaining any more muscle. For my sanity and my budget...I can't…

Is Crossfit enough or add additional lifting?
I crossfit mostly 4, but sometimes 5 times per week. They do incorporate lifting with squats (front and back) deadlifts, and lifting during the CWOD (conditioning workout of the day). I feel so much stronger than I did when I started in April 2013. Example: I started at a 10 lb kettlebell and am now at a 27 lb kettlebell.…

Is there another formula out there??
HI, I have been wearing my Body Media Fit for 28 days now. My average burn is 2689, (I average 3 active hrs. per day, 11386 steps per day) my average calorie intake is 2070, (43% Carbs, 34% fat and 23% protein) and I have only lost 100 grams!!! :grumble: Overall body measurements have reduced by 2 cms. Yeah to that! I have…

Just left Doctors - Frustrated and lost appetite!!!!!!!!

Ready to throw in the towel
*I've also posted this question on the EM2WL forum, no responses yet though Im just seeking more ideas here* I began my reset on sep 2nd this year. I gradually increased up until TDEE of 2150 cals where I ate at for several weeks. I have logged into MFP every single thing I've eaten, measured with a digital scale. I felt…

For those with BodyMedia Fit...I don't get it
I wear a BodyMedia Fit, and it's awesome. Why in the world does it add 400 excercise calories to MFP like within an hour of me being awake, without having actually worked out? It balances out as the day goes on, but what's that all about? I'm just concerned that my TDEE isn't accurate. According to my BMF I burn around…

Logging when eating out
Just curious as to what everyone does when eating out, whether it's at a restaurant or someone else's house... Do you guess at the quantities etc, knowing it won't be exact coz you can't weight/measure and also don't know what exactly is in the food (if they used oil in cooking, sugar in sauces, etc etc) or do you just…

My cut - 4 weeks in
After an 8 week reset, I just completed the first four weeks of my cut. My average burn according to my Fitbit was 2279. My average calorie intake was 1792. My macro goals are 40% carbs, 30% fat and 30% protein. I aim to get all my protein in first and let the other two fall where they may. I have been doing stage 2 of New…

I'm eating more, but how big of a problem are m&ms?
So, I'm a heavy lifter. I gym-it about 2 hours a day, 6 days a week (alternating muscle groups). Lately, I'm snacking on those damn m&ms like, well candy! It might be the holiday or it might that I'm not eating enough. What do you think? Here are some basic stats: 5'9 150lbs 1570 calories Since I'm still looking to lose a…

Week 16, Week 3 of cut and STILL maintaining...

Is hunger a good sign?
Hello! I've been in the group, but first time posting. I'm 5'4.5", and am 180.5 lbs. I do crossfit 4-5 times per week. Our crossfit box had the hydrostatic water tank people come in to officially give us our body fat %. They also told me that based upon my weight, activity level, etc. I wasn't losing weight because I was…

Fractured ankle need help!
It's safe to say that I have been under eating for quite a while. I have recently been trying to eat up because I was feeling badly and low on energy. What Do I Do Now?
I've been dieting and for a while I ate about 1000 calories a day until I decided to restart and take a diet break after I lost my period. I've eaten uncontrollably and I know for sure that I've gained much much more than just water weight. I've definitely gained a ton of fat. For the last three weeks my intake has been…

Obsession: counting calories, weighing, food-centric...
I just want to get this out and see if anyone has any suggestions or feedback. When I started MFP and EMTWL, I was doing fine. Not worrying about weight gain or anything. Lately, since I cut, I have become obsessive about counting calories, weighing myself and it seems my whole life revolves around food and exercise. I…

Well now this is a first...
Usually, it takes some crazy crash diet for me to lose anything impressive for the first week of any program I go on. Of course if you cut carbs/calories to very low levels, you're going to deplete glycogen, lose water weight, all that jazz, and have a nice week 1 weigh in. So explain this..... I've done nothing but ramp…

Just found this group
Hi all I'm new to this group, though not new to MFP or trying to lose weight... although I'm looking for friends in this group to help and encourage each other. I'm almost 50 and been post-menopausal for 15 years. I visited my doc almost 2 years ago as I was struggling to lose, we looked at my MFP food/exercise diary, and…

Week 15 and I found someone I thought I had lost.......
I am week 15 in my journey. The reset is done, I am in week 2 of my cut. I think I have been measuring my food wrong because I have not lost or gained. Week 16 I will deduct another 100cals, bringing my cut to 367 cals cut a day....dropping my count to 2100. Hoping that will work, if not I will try something else.…

Thoughts on eating intuitively 4 cut rather then tracking..
I am day 6 on my cut and only have truely hit cut amount 2 days of those, other days I am eating at TDEE. One thing I notice is that I log in all my meals for the day for cut and then at 10pm, I get a hankerin for a bowl of popcorn or ice cream or a candy bar and blam back to TDEE. I notice that in order to get myself to…

Heybales - HRM and exercise intensity
Thought I'd start a new topic - here is what you said in the SS thread: "Curves is more likely medium, if not high depending on how you do it. I'd say do a treadmill at 4mph flat, either get HR for that effort, or really see how you breath and how it feels, then go do the Curves workout. If it feels like less or same…
