Fitbit question
Can someone explain how my fitbit works out my cals? Usually I weight train and add that via mfp. I take anything between 5000-10000 steps a day. So I am used to it saying I have burned around 1900-2000 a day, more when I weight train, obviously. My bmr is around 1450. So I was a bit surprised when I took 4423 steps and 6…

When do I know my reset is over...
So I am just in my first week of the metabolism reset, but I just want to know how I will know when my metabolism is back to normal? I don't want to end up eating more than my TDEE and gaining "actual" weight, if that makes sense... And how many times do you suggest I weigh myself throughout this process?

Lost Weight First Week of Reset?
I tried to google it, but I'm just getting useless stuff in the results >.> Basically I just finished week 1 of my metabolism reset I am working on. It was an interesting week and I learned that when I am not logging like a hawk, I severely over estimate the things I eat and probably why I ended up back in my current…

New here...
...to this Board not MFP. Let me get this straight, you're saying that once I figure out my BMR (1456), my TDEE (2257) and deduct 15% (1918), I can eat that much food and in theory lose weight? I'm gonna give it a shot. One question though...I don't quite understand the whole "if you work out and burn calories" thing....so…

Maintenance Breaks
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew whether its preferred to take eating-at-maintenance diet breaks for 1 week every 6 weeks or so or 1 day per week every week? I know EM2WL touts 1 week every so often, but would 1 day per week accomplish the same thing? Truthfully, I'd prefer the latter but not if it means stalling my…

BMR and BodyFat results
Although first test was done way back in july 2012. I am pretty happy about the BF% and BodyFat loss. I started EM2WL back in october,13 and started lifting mid november. I am really happy to see fat loss and muscle gain. My nutritionist thinks i should it less than my BMR. I dont feel like following this :( I can't make…

EMTWL, TDEE and Fitbit Flex
Ok here we go. I KNOW this question has been asked a million different ways, but I am still not quite getting the answer I need. I’ve been attempting to eat at TDEE – 15%. My TDEE SHOULD be (according to most calculators) 2098. Making my daily calorie goal 1800 (rounded up from 1784). I used the 1-3 hrs. per week light…

Read Starve Mode - want to dive in but can't convince myself
I am trying to start a refeed. But my heart is not in it, as I cannot convince my head that this makes sense. I was on a low calorie diet 1200-1400 for a year or so (with intermittent fasting once or twice a week, so these are average calories over a week, not necessarily daily) and I started weight training in December…

Macros on target but calories under???
I'm sure there's a very simple explanation, but I don't understand how I can hit my macros and still have my calorie under target?? Actually, my protein is over by 13g, fat and carbs are bang on track and my calories are still under by 35. How does that work? I've also had days where my macros are almost exactly on target…

Macros & Not eating back
Hi If I'm eating my cut TDEE and not eating back my activity how do I know if I've hit my macros? I have 200 calories left to eat at the end of the day, but I'm not sure what macros I should be eating because my remaining calories include exercise. How does everyone else figure this out?

Set back Broke toe
Well I'm pretty sure I broke my big toe tonight. My foot slipped and I *kitten* planted/slid down the wooden stairs while I was walking down them and my big toe stopped me (all 200lbs) from hitting the wall. Black and blue but not missed shaped. It's my natural grace at work. Ice, wrapped, elevated & took ibuprofen. I just…

RMR Test, and what do I do now? (Heybales, help please?)
I wasn't going to post this question, but I thought it might be of interest to some of you...and the more I think about it, the more curious I become! I had my RMR tested yesterday at a local weight loss facility run by a very well known doctor specializing in weight loss, Dr. Yoni Freedhoff (http://www.weightymatters.ca/…

Advice
Hi All, Sorry to add yet another post on the subject, but having read a lot on the EM2WH and other groups, I wanted to check that I have this correct. I am a 5'10", 40 year old man with a very, very sedentary lifestyle (computer programmer, working long hours from home, so no commute). I currently weigh in at 226lbs. My…

Learning about EM2WL: nursing, BMR, and TDEE
Hello There, I am just truly learning about this. I have been on MFP since May 2011. My son was 6 mos and I decided to do something about the weight that I'd put on from having 3 babies in 3 years. I lost 31 pounds between That May and the following Feb. However I became discouraged that I was putting on more weight than I…

I'm very new to this group
I've been researching this group & method a lot before I finally decided to take the plunge. I've been plateaued for about 4 months using the MFP & eating back my exercise calories method. My current stats: Female Age 46 CW: 187 Exercise: spin for 45 minutes 5 days per week; cardio circuit (1 minute cardio, followed by 1…

I dont know what to do with this....
My husband pulled the following out of storage. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/marcy-mcb-252-weight-bench-with-120-lb-weight-set-and-lat-tower/pid-696523 I am a weightlifting "virgin" don't know what to do with it. Can I get some guidance please. I've bought the book NROL4W, I'm reading through it and trying to get a grip…

Took a logging break - not a great idea
After my metabolism reset I spent 4 weeks logging my daily calories according to heybales spreadsheet, which put my daily requirements at 2194 calories (this puts me in a 15% deficit). In the first 2 weeks I didn't lose anything, but the second 2 weeks (actually, it was more like 10 days..) I lost 800g. At that point I…

Post workout - simple vs complex carbs
This is where I really get confused. I've read arguments for both sides but surely they can't both be equally correct. Post workout, is it better to have simple or complex carbs? FYI - I do crossfit 8-10 times per week. I know the basics that during training, particularly an intense session like crossfit, our bodies…

Maintaining Lean Mass
I'm more of a lurker on this forum, but I've been doing EM2WL for 18 months. I've lost 37lbs and 4 pants sizes without ever starving myself. Anyway, I've read through all the info I can find, but I was hoping some of you could reassure me with my latest mental battle. In the past 5-6 months, I've lost roughly 10 lbs…

New to this group or any group on MFP
I realized I posted some of this in the wrong area in the message boards so if anyone had read this before, sorry. Hey everyone, I'm new to this group but not MFP. I started getting serious to drop the extra weight back in March 2013. In 6 months I dropped 54lbs, I took a week break in between each 3 months. After every…

Over 1 Year...
My frustration level is starting to raise a little :( I have been lifting heavy for over a year now. I was low carb/paleo when I first started lifting and then found EM2LW about 6 months in. Over the year I have gained 25 lbs. Some of it was while I was still paleo, the rest happened when I started "eating the food" again.…

I have a question
I just did Heybale's spreadsheet after resetting for 12 weeks, and my TDEE is 2316... but becuase of my stats and work outs the worksheet has me eating at 1632, which is a cut of 29.6%. Is this correct? I was under the assumption that I should only be cutting by 10 or 15%... According to the worksheet my deficit is based…

Thread for my progress (gonna keep it all here)
I have wanted to do this for a couple of weeks now. A good place to let it all out without creating multiple posts on the board. :) I began my EM2WL journey beginning of July when I started my reset. I ate at 2180 cals as that was what calculators told me my TDEE was. Quickly gained 10 lbs and thought I was stabilized and…

Sigh, i can fix this right?
So, I have been losing for a long time. I started my journey on August 23, 2011. I have been averaging 1100-1300 net calories a day since. Sure some days I go WAY over, rarely but they are there. Those days were mostly filled with processed crap. In November of 2012, I stopped losing. No matter what I do I cannot lose. I…

***Long Post Alert***
Hi everyone, I've made the decision to dedicate myself to the EM2WL way of life in the hope I can become fit and heathy. I'm having a few issues adjusting especially to the eating more. I'm finding it incredibly difficult to eat more than say 1500 cals a day (better choices) I'd have no issues if I could chuck in a few…

I need more EM2WL friends!
I have several MFPs that already eat around the amount I do (1900+), but I feel like I'm in the minority. I'm finding this way of eating highly enjoyable and satisfying. I would love to have more friends who eat to fuel their bodies! I also love getting meal ideas and workout ideas from my friends here. I'm highly…

Processing "The process"
Hi family! As we enter into a new year of goals and aspirations, it's important to reflect and regroup! Reflect and remember our successes and strengths and regroup to fix those areas that we had problems mastering or even understanding! We've all read and or heard the phrase "trust the process" THIS is a true statement,…
