Background and question about amount to start upping
I would like to throw my info out there for your thoughts. Beward I am wordy. Trying to keep a long story short is a challenge. First off about 2 years ago I had been eating 700 calories a day for about 2 years ( eating an occassional bit of pizza or nachos and drinks on the weekends) Yes I would gain but never lost after…

Calories to eat...
Can someone have a look at my food diary? These are all my meals and snacks and pre/post-workout food for today. I'm netting 1142, so I should still find another approximately 500 calories to squeeze in there somehow to make sure I get up to my 1671 BMR in the NET category? Is that right? Sorry if this seems a repeat…

how much did you gain when doing a reset?
Hi everyone. I have been flirting with the idea of starting this for so long now and I am actually starting to annoy myself. Like many others I have a history of low calories diets behind me, lost weight, kept a lot of it off but I haven’t achieved what I want and i probably haven’t eaten properly for a number of years. At…

Not seeing any results yet...
I am eating 1600 calories for the last few weeks and lost a couple pounds but put them back on. My TDEE is 1900 and -15% I got 1600. I have been doing a half hour HIIT workout 3 times a week and strength training and a 20 min. walk twice a week. Am I going to be able to lose weight doing this? I am confused...don't eat too…

Can someone tell me if I have this right?
Hi all, Apologies in advance if this is long! I've just ordered the New Rules for Lifting for Women and I'm excited to start on the program, along with the EM2WL philosophy. I've been plateaued for YEARS and I'm hoping this will help, in the past, I've lost and gained the same 5 pounds so often, I can't keep track! So,…

Am I doing this right?
I'm really confused on whether or not I'm doing this the right way. On Saturday I decided to sit down and figure out my nutrient and calorie requirements so I can lose weight the healthy way. I recently started started to workout regularly and I'm so confused about the net calories and whether or not I eat back the…

Want to make sure I've got this calculated correctly..
I'm one of those people that has been jumping back and forth from 1200 calorie diets for months, at the encouragement of other MFP members, my doctor etc, but after completing Insanity, eating 1200-1400 calories a day, I knew something was really wrong. I currently, and have been for a month or so, netting 1400 a day, by…

TDEE - BMR - Weight Lifting
I will try to keep this short and sweet. I'm confused about where lifting weights comes into TDEE. I lift heavy 3x a week (5x5 plus 3-4 other lifts for 3-4 sets each), takes an hour to an hour 15 depending on what I feel like. I walk on the treadmill for 10-20 min after.....walking at 3.6 - 3.8, sometimes inclined I…

Almost 1 year of EM2WL photos
It will be 1 year in two weeks that I started my EM2WL weight loss journey. I was 191 pounds (5'1) I am now 155 lbs so I still have about 25 or so pounds to go but I will get there and I wont be starving myself to get there. Even though a year ago I thought I would be further down on the scale than I am now I am amazed at…

Results with Real Numbers, Question about 'True' TDEE
Hey guys! I joined this group a few weeks ago because I realized I was essentially following this plan without realizing it. I simply started to eat more a few months ago because I 'thought' I had lost control. But I was hungry! True, stomach-growling hunger! Not surprisingly I guess, this started when I began a bodyweight…

Finished New Rules Stage 1!
Guess what? I've FINALLY completed Stage 1 of New Rules. Woot! I feel like it took me forever with an unintended rest week and a few other roadblocks thrown into various workout days, but I did it! I'm not posting scale/measurement/pic results right now because I want to give my body a few days to let go of any water…

Lifting
I know this may probably be in the forums somewhere, but I'd rather post my own thoughts and concerns about this...so here goes...(it won't be long, promise)....I see a lot of people saying how they're lifting now, is that mandatory to reach your weight (along with the right amount of intake, of course) or can you do the…

anyone lost a LOT with this method?
Alright. I'm in. I read a lot yesterday about this, and it makes sense to what I was thinking about trying. I had thought about just eating maintenance and working my tail off. I was thinking it because I know I am deficient in b12 and iron. Many symptoms such as hair loss, and non diabetic neuropathy. I supplement and…

Confused..please help!
So I know the general rule I see around here is to net your bmr. Well I have my calories set at 2123 (20% deficit of tdee). I don't eat back my exercise calories but I do log what I burn via my hrm. However, according to that I am netting below my bmr which is 1712. Should I eat back some of my exercise cals to at least be…

Healthy Living Accountability Buddy?
I was wondering if anyone would want to be my healthy living accountability buddy. I am living away from my loved ones & feel like I need an extra oomph of support. I eat 2000 calories per day--3 days of cardio, 3 days of strength training. Macros are: 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat. 5'3 & 160 pounds. BFP: 27%. I'd like…

Help!
I am hoping maybe this is the answer. I started my weight loss journey almost 2 years ago doing Weight Watchers, and had decent success. I started with more than 150 lbs to lose, and lost around 40 lbs, only following the meal plan, with no exercise. Then I reached a plateau, and couldn't lose anymore, and quit. I…

Need Guidance
Hi everyone! I hope someone here can help me out because I'm feeling very frustrated. First, I'll give you some background: About February 2011 I decided to lose weight. I was 5'3" at 180 lbs. I did the VLCD thing and did impressive amounts of cardio every day till I got down to about 135-140. This lasted until about…

IT'S WORKING, IT'S WORKING!
So, I've been eating at maintenance (TDEE 2100 calories per day - averaged over the week.) for a while, while trying to get my health problems sorted out. I have not gained any weight in the last 8 weeks of trying to eat at maintenance... Three weeks ago, we finally figured out what my problem was (B12 deficiency anemia)…

What are your macros set at?
Mine are 40p, 30c, 30f. Is this ok? My goal is to drop about 30lbs and decrease my body fat by A LOT! Should I change it?

Can we talk carbs?
Kind of a scary subject for me. lol I have eaten Primally the past 3 years or so. I think I got chronically low carb in the past, netting well under 30 grams a day. I have recently started upping my carbs to 100 grams a day. I do NOT and will not eat refined carbs and grains. They make me sick and all the science behind…

The Numbers Are Driving Me Crazy!
I will just go ahead and apologize up front because I know this has been discussed to death. I am just really struggling trying to come up with the correct number of calories. I will try and be as succinct as possible :) Age: 51 Current Weight: 199 Height: 60 inches Body Fat: 40% Goal weight: 130 (for now) History: 5 weeks…

Quick question..
I used the scooby calculator to calculate how many calories I should take in a day based on my activity level and deficient. It gave me 2123/day. I'm wondering if that is just straight out eat that amount or if I need to eat my exercise calories to net this number. I wouldn't think so since its already calculated my…

Let's talk about protein
Hey Everyone, I thought it might be a good idea to share ideas of how we bump up our protein intake to hit our macros. I try to hit 6 meals a day and supplement with shakes and homemade bars. I am always interested in trying new things! I'm particularly interested in foods I can bring to work, I have no access to a…

Ready to cry- need some encouragement!
So I read everything, did all the maths, and worked way up to near enough TDEE (ever so slightly under but getting there) - its taken me a couple of months to get to this point (previously around 1300, now 2000-2200)... Today I go to the gym- firstly was proud of myself as I reached two new personal bests with my lifting,…

Off to a good start
Hi All, Just had to share this morning. On average I have ate 2500 calories a day with an average burn of 294 calories (a mix of cardio and Strength training) a day for the past week. This would equate to 2241 calories netted per day. In this last week I have actually lost 600 grams (1.32 pounds). I have been using Hey…

A picture is worth a 1000 words
<click to view my profile pic. To all of my EM2WL friends here is a visual demonstrating what happens when we replace body fat for muscle and why the weight scale is not always a good indicator of progress. Take measurements and pictures. One of the best methods to get there is via strength training using compound…

Scared to eat more...
Ahoy (: I'm Kassie! Uhm. Well, I've been stalled bouncing around in the 190s so I was told to up my calorie intake. Why not, right? I like food. But..I guess I feel afraid to eat more. It sounds silly, I know. I just don't want my progress to be in vain. I follow the TDEE -20% method, lift 3x a week and do cardio, though I…
