Starting my reset
I figured I'd make this post so I can keep all my weight and measurements and such in one easy to find place. :) I started upping my calories a week ago. According to Scooby (at 31, 5' 4", 140#) my TDEE is 2189. I'm finally there. Through this process I have gained 5 lbs (though, that 5 pounds was gained over the past…

I need someone to tell me to do it
To start, I've been losing anywhere from 0.5-1.5 lbs a week fairly consistently so it's scary to think about changing things up. But I've noticed recently I've had bigger losses the weeks I take a couple days off (for travel or whatever) and end up eating more than I normally would. I'm 5'6 and 180 currently, MFP has my…

For those who reset, and then lost weight after?
I've been reading about resets and thinking I may need to do one. But it is scary to read about weight gains of 10 and more pounds. So here is my question: For all you folks who reset and gained, are there any of you who then lost the weight? And especially, who lst the weight without having to drop calories ridiculously…

Cut 15% or 20%
Hi all! Just wondering if I should be cutting 15% or 20% from my TDEE. I was cutting 15% because I was doing intense cardio 6 days a week. I have changed things up a bit a couple of months ago. Now I do 3 days of cardio (Zumba, Turbofire) and 3 days of Cathe lifting dvds one week. The next week I do the same cardio and…

Starving!
I have apparently been starving myself for years, maybe even decades. Starting on MFP, I went with the 1200 calorie limit, like all illiterate dieters seems to do. And I really struggled to eat 1200 calories while also working hard to lower my carbs, sugar, processed foods, etc. It's almost a primal diet but not…

Logging Issue/ defocits
I've been back for 31 days now, woot! I took about 4 months off due to torn rotator cuff, didn't log in and just ate. I gained about 25 poundsduring that time. Anyhow, I am doing couch 2 5k to prepare for upcoming race and also going to begin biking soon. Weights have to wait, but I do squats, planks, burpees, and crunches…

RMR Testing - Question
Hello! I had my RMR tested this morning after 12 hours of fasting/no exercise etc. They predicted my RMR would be 1331 kcal/day but it came back at 1267 kcal/day (not too awful of a guestimate in my opinion). My rmr is 1267, they estimate my TDEE to be 1776 (with exercise, but they calculate exercise at only 30 mins a day…

Deficit-struggling
According to my BM on a sedentary day I burn 2400. I must have miscalculated my activity on my spreadsheet as my TDEG was listed as 1610. FAQ (all tested within last two weeks) RMR 1742 BF% 31 BMI 26 Nutritionist avised me to eat 1800. Weight is 161.8 no goal weight set not too concerned with scale but is put myself in the…

Any good books for metabolism reset????
Just wondering what books anyone would recommend on resetting my metabolism. I've been in a severe calorie deceit for quite a while, put on 30lbs, and increased my body fat by 20%! I am beyond desperate and want to increase my calories because I know I'm not eating enough and I workout 5-6 days a week. Can anyone give me…

Would a damaged metabolism show up on an RMR test?
Hello, all. I had my RMR tested today for free at my company gym using New Leaf equipment. At 5'3"/147 lbs/31%BF, the New Leaf machine reported my RMR at 1652. My question is: "Could this number have been inaccurate (inflated) if my metabolism is depressed?" or another way of asking the question would be, "Would my RMR -…

What do you eat to make your protein macro?
Since we are all at high calories, I'm pretty sure everyone's protein count is fairly high. So what do you eat? I need ideas. I suppose I could have 2 shakes a day. I have a unflavored pea protein powder that tastes like *kitten*, and a vanilla protein powder that I apparently gives me a headache. I think from the fake…

I have two questions! Activity level & resistance bands
I'm having a slightly difficult time determing my activity level. I've had it set at lightly active 1-3hrs/wk, but I suppose I just want reassurance that I've chosen the correct level. I'm using Katch formula for determining my TDEE. I am training 3 times per week using C25k (except for this last week). My C25k work outs…

Kettlebell
I just had to share because this just blew me away! So many times we will quickly share negative feedback when it comes to customer service, but fail to give "Shout Outs" when it is due. I ordered a 35lb kettlebell and it came chipped. Now I was truly disappointed but figured I'd just cover it with some paint and keep it…

Food Question
What can I eat that will keep me full? I know protein, but I also know I need veggies and other stuff, too. What do you eat to stay healthy and keep yourself satiated?

Is it true that the last pounds to lose are the hardest?
I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I've never seen it if it has (but each child I've given birth to has depleted my minimal brain resources). Is it true that the last 5-10 lbs to lose are the most difficult? I've heard this forever but have never really understood the logic to it. Isn't a pound a pound?

what have I actually done?
Hi I have been at the EMTWL for quite a while now, my food diary is public so if anyone wants to take a look then it might help clarify what I'm trying to ask/say in this post. I started eating more after several months of major cutting and several periods (eg. 4 weeks eating loads over Xmas break) of eating normal-ish.…

meal timing
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas about appropriate meal timing and/or macronutrient timing to enhance fat loss and aid with body recomposition. I've heard everything from doing fasted workouts and then waiting another hour or so post workout to eat to eating pre-WO and PWO meals. Moreover, if I'm…

New to the Group/Gaining eating above BMR
Ok. I have a question for everyone. I was eating 1600-1800 calories depending on my exercise for the day. I have lost 30 pounds. I was researching on MFP and realized I am eating below my BMR of 1930 so I started doing that about a month ago and now I have gained 5 pounds. Should I keep eating above my BMR to see if I…

Anyone with a nut allergy?
Hi, all! I'm new here and I'm already enjoying eating without feeling like I'm doing something naughty. One thing that gives me trouble with meeting my intake and sticking to healthy foods, though, is the fact that I have a nut allergy. A lot of people suggest adding high calorie, low volume foods to your diet to get in…

Really getting more frustrated every week
OK. I've been lifting for about 3 months averaging about 2 sessions per week with walking on other days and hard cardio on one day per week. My newbie strength gains are going great. I can do multiple sets of whole-body standard push-ups now. I am approaching 100lbs on my squat. My OHP is getting ever so slightly bigger.…

Expedition, calories going to be burned, what to do?!
Anyone who's familiar with the concept of the Duke of Edinburgh's award here in the UK (and other commonwealth countries I believe, too...) will know what I'm talking about. If you don't, it's a scheme for young people that encompasses skills, volunteering, physical activity and an expedition at various levels: bronze,…

Totally Exhausted...Normal?
I started a metabolism reset last Saturday so it's been almost a week of eating at my TDEE. I feel exhausted and by 1:00 pm could fall asleep. Is this normal?? And will it subside over time? Thanks Maria

protein shake
Just curious... what brand of protein shake do you drink? I did a little research on the internet and came across rave reviews for Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein.... So I went to GNC yesterday and the girl at the counter goes "Is this for you?" I told her that it would be for me and my husband. She then asked if I was…

Confused! Fitbit, tdee, and nursing!
I just bought my fitbit one (love it!). But now I am lost again! I was doing TDEE-15% plus 500 for nursing and moderately active for 2650 calories. (BMR 1620). So with the fitbit, I put my numbers in and said sedentary which gave me 1660. So I know I have to net at least this. I add nursing as cardio (1minute) and any…

new to em2wl and in need of friends!
Hi everyone, In a prolonged moment of procrastination while trying to do an assignment I stumbled across a topic on MFP about em2wl. I checked out the website and immediately decided this is exactly what I need. I've been on MFP for about 10 months now, and have lost 10kgs, had several plateaus, starved myself, binged,…
