  • Plus 100. I LOVE Mio!
  • :-) Thanks. Life was a whole, large pizza by myself, or a pound of pasta, or a 6-egg omelet with sausages, etc. But mainly life was huffing and puffing everywhere I went and sweating like a marathon runner (after just walking a few feet). Life was only shopping at Big and Tall stores and still being frustrated. I had to…

  • Welcome Bluestar. :-) I echo all of your weaknesses except the fast metabolism. This is a good place to get support and see what you're doing when you DO slip up. Also, it's helpful to see that one day is important, but it's not the end of the world.

  • I LOVE sugar snap peas. They're surprisingly filling and a nice low calorie non-celery snack. Buy a big bag and take them in baggies and the price is good too. If he wants something that's a bit salty and tastier, I'm absolutely in love with "Smart Fries" by Gourmet Basics. They're 110-calories for a bag, and the serving…
  • I used to need extra-wide shoes, but now I can wear "normal" shoes. The size I wear didn't change though, just the width. :-)
  • I'd never done Yoga before, so I got the obvious one: "Yoga for dummies". It's a great one to slowly walk through some of the basic poses. After doing that one for a bit I got "The Biggest Loser: Weight Loss Yoga". It's a great DVD and it's amazing how sweaty I can get doing yoga. Definitely recommend both of them…
  • Welcome. If you found an exercise you're addicted to that's awesome! It looks fun...if I had any rhythm or ability to move in time with music I'd try it.
  • Not trying to do a "me too" post, but I get the same thing at work! It's weird. People call me "skinny" in the halls and some of my coworkers think I'm TOO THIN. It's weird! I guess it's based on them comparing the "before" with the "current". Also, I think what we see in the mirror is not always what others see when they…
  • In the future, to check if it's just your connection or the site, you can go to http://www.downornot.com/ and type in the webpage.
  • IMHO stay away from any and all chains. They're awful. Go someplace where they'll be okay with making you something special, especially since it's your birthday. Stir fry is generally pretty dangerous, but just pick something and eat some of it. You can eat things that aren't great for you, just add a salad or some steamed…
  • Way to go! You look fantastic and the health benefits are incredible!
  • This is a great place to be if you need ideas and motivation.
  • I'm targeting 3x a week for 60 minutes. I know myself, and if I set a goal I can't attain I'll get frustrated and just give up. If I'm able to maintain 3x a week, I'll add more days as time permits. Guess I'm the slacker of the replies so far.
  • Thanks! I went in and added some data points from when I was recording my weight loss. Went from "2 lb lost" to "43 lb lost" in 5 minutes.
  • I love it too............ She's freaking hot...
  • Enjoy it while you can. 17 was an awesome age that I totally let slip by. Nothing you do at 17 matters as long as you don't get pierced, tattooed, pregnant or injured. :-) Go have fun, live life and learn who you are. By the time you hit mid-20's you're either married, in college or otherwise unable to just be free and…
  • Vitamin water is definitely counted as water. It's really just a scam with a few drops of some stuff added and is 99.999% pure water. Save your money and buy regular bottled water if you're buying water and eat some spinach instead.
  • If you've filled out the questions correctly honestly you can use all 1200 calories. You don't want to under-eat or your body could go into starvation mode (this would be a very very low intake of calories). If your goals and timeline are correct and you should feel safe eating up to the 1200 mark and then reducing it with…
  • You can go out, be with your husband, enjoy the evening and have a great time. Maybe get something without cream for dinner, and a salad for an appetizer. If you do get dessert, get something yummy and don't eat the whole thing (dump salt on it to keep from picking at it or give it to your husband). Eating out is the…
  • Tikka Masala is made with cream and clarified butter. :-) It's soooooo good.... Semi-safe foods are tandori chicken (like spiced grilled chicken), possibly any kind of Dal (lentils) and maybe Saag (thick green sauce made with paneer--firm cheese or meats). Honestly Indian Buffet is a dangerous place. :-) If there's a salad…
  • Welcome! Personally I think the office snacks and pastries are the most dangerous things out there. Free, available and fattening are a bad combination.
  • I used to drink at least 128oz of Diet Coke a day, sometimes more. I managed to replace most of it with water and Mio (flavoring like Crystal Light). Personally I can't stand "plain" water and it just makes me more thirsty. I still drink ~64oz of Diet Coke at lunch, but darnit I can't give up everything! :-) What's odd is…
  • I hear ya, but I pick my battles. :-) If I start looking at all the ingredients I find my meals consist of water and raw soy beans... :-)
  • Isn't it funny how great it feels to get even one pound past a target weight? Good job and keep up the good work!

  • I use Mio to flavor my water. I've gone from 0 cups to like 16 cups a day. I also follow your soda tip and stopped drinking 2-3 cans of Diet Coke at 9am and instead only drink soda with lunch. Now I'm thirsty...off to get some water!
  • I don't even let myself go over to the "candy corners" anymore. One of my coworker's wife is a freaking BAKER and when she practices a recipe he'll bring it in. Cake, pie, cookies...and she's GOOD. Ugh... I always keep a good supply of 100-calorie snacks at my desk. Chocolate powdered almonds, Smart Fries, Pop Chips,…
  • There's pizza in the break room??? I'll be right back............
  • Don't forget that the daily calories may not have an immediate impact. Try not to look at it on a day by day or week by week basis (I know, it's hard and I do it too...). Keep going and stick with it and try to mix things up. Don't let your body get used to your food or exercise. Go for a walk if it's nice out instead of…
  • no problem. If you don't drink water because it's "bleh" (which is how I feel), look into Mio. It's flavoring you squirt into your glass of water so you can make single servings and not need to keep it in the fridge. Since I started using it I drink a TON of water (which is up from zero water). Don't forget, if…

  • Does food taste salty or do you have a salty taste in your mouth regardless of whether you're eating or not? Here's an article about a general salty taste in your mouth: http://www.ivillage.com/what-salty-taste-my-mouth/4-n-142279 I don't know how old you are (unless the "19" is your age), but if you're nearing menopause…
