  • I wait about an hour too before breakfast and I say anything goes. If it's nutritious and delicious it's all in the plan!
  • I did the same thing 5 years ago. (Christmas Holiday) Have been here for about 3 weeks now wishing I'd done it sooner. You can do it!
  • You got it! It's entirely about a healthy, strong, confident, YOU! Making that switch to you being a priority may be construed by others as selfish but as you do this thing, it's a requirement and in the long run, that resulting healthy, energetic, new you is going to have more for others than ever before. Congratulations…
  • You can do this. That "pressing re-start" just needs to happen daily, I think. At least that's what I'm finding. Fell off for about 4 days and realized I got in this condition by daily living the rather thoughtless life of not taking care of me. It was a cumulative effect and that"s the only way I can change... with the…
  • Welcome Dori, I am 61 and your story is sort of mine! Been here for 20 days. Started with total resolve, lost 4 lbs my 1st week and 1 lb my 2nd. Went to a wedding last sat and totally blew my eating plan and it was a down hill slide since then! Yesterday got back on track but know I've got to get moving again with the…
  • Are you starting a new one for August? Walking is my only cardio for now and I need to challenge myself. Coming in to report my time would be great inspiration to go that little bit further!
  • Wishing you and wife the best... you are going to get this! Sounds like you've come to your "ah-ha moment" and realize this is it... Good for both of you!
  • " I can have it anytime I want but For right now I'm choosing not to."
  • Just look around, it's all over the place! Go through the message boards. Successes, Motivation, it's all right here. Just read thru a few and and you'll be motivated like crazy! You can do it... Just keep your eyes on the prize. Evaluate what you need and don't hesitate to come in and ask questions. Lots of good sound…
  • This has to be the kindest, sweetest, most respectful reply I have ever seen! You really are a Basic Great Guy! Madelyn, take this to heart and also thanks for your comment to me above.
  • You've proven to yourself that "diets" and whatever you've tried in the past don't work, so today you've made an excellent decision! Congratulations! New day and new life for you, and I for one will be watching! You can do this... just check out the many successes. Loads of education here and encouragement to get you…
  • Madelyn, you had me at "old and fat"! LOL I am 61 and just beginning. I could not do the cycling that you're doing but hope as I increase strength and stamina with my walks and light weight training that I will get more & more active. I am no one to give advice at this point in my own journey but wanted to come in to say,…
  • So glad I found this post and am book marking it for any more advice that comes through. I was diagnosed with copd about a year ago and was asthmatic also. I always use my albuterol prior to my walks and do 2 walks per day rather than 1 long one. I was very sedentary for so long and walking is my only cardio so far. I get…
  • Just UNDER a year! Cptnstv, you've had an amazing transformation!
  • Glad I checked this out. You've done a tremendous amount of work with great results and are one more inspiration to everyone out here seeking health and hope! Thanks so much for sharing! How did you do this and how long did it take to come so far?
  • I've got that too, and like others say, we've just got to continue to burn and that will eventually go too... strengthening the core muscles help to diminish the appearance of that as we continue to lose.and firm up those abdominal muscles...I think. Any other comments on that?
  • Thanks ! And yes, elisa123gal, good point! We gained an ounce and a pound at a time. (altho I swear my 43 lb. weight gain arrived over night special delivery!LOL!)
  • Yep... Prelogging in food diary helps me a lot.All decisions are made in advance from foods I have available. If I don't do that, I'm searching the pantry and fridge for a quick fix and it's rarely wise. Meanwhile just get right back on your plan...
  • That's really cool...I would've stood taller over that too!
  • Great advice from BasicGreatGuy ... I just stopped in to wish you well and congratulate you on that first step of "decision"! So many people have found healing here with improved lifestyle and you can too!
  • Pan sprayed with Pam/ 2 large eggs beaten/ caramelized onion/ whatever cheese I have available/ and any left over veg. Just gotta have the onions and the cheese...GOTTA have the cheese!
  • Thanks for sharing this... again, if not for people making this choice I would never have been a mother to the most wonderful kids on the planet! People used to say how wonderful my husband and I were to have adopted like we were trying to save the world... No way. We simply wanted a family and adoption is just…
  • Just re-read your post and looks like you are able to go about every 3 hours... It does sound like you might have an issue with urinary frequency which can signify a problem/ on the other hand you might just have a smaller bladder than mine and need to empty out more often... I drink plenty and go approx.3-5 hours without…
  • Thrilled to see this as I plan to purchase one tomorrow... I'm concerned about the ease of use too and a good reliable/useful brand. Thanx for any and all info!
  • You've gotta be a nurse working 2nd shift! We hold it 'till we're ready to burst as we're pulled 20 ways from Sunday by a needy patient or co-worker... OR we head toward the bathroom and an hour later as a bit of pee is leaking we suddenly realize OMG, I forgot!!! I gotta go!!! Meanwhile, we know full well this not a…
  • Wow... that looks like one powerful workout! Congratulations on this success and literally saving your life. I hope others suffering with anorexia see this as they need to hear your story! (could you maybe re-post with the term in the topic title? Thanks so much for sharing.
  • And that's me, too... I'm a mom... "adoptive mom" only due to necessity of topic. I'm so glad and grateful to hear some beautiful stories! Yes, Elphie754... agree with Thea519... You don't sound insensitive in the least... Your quote, "I usually don't even refer to my family/parents as "adoptive family" bs "birth parents"…
  • Yes, sounds like you are the one that's motivated! My own experience with either going to a gym or just a walking routine is that I had to get a little selfish... Same story... waiting around for them, cancelling out or just not showing up... what a pain! And the walking? I am not out here for a leisurely stroll... I say a…
