A good soup starts with good broth. I make turkey bone broth regularly, but this can also be done with chicken or beef bones (roast beef bones about 1 hour first, you can find temp online, I haven't done beef yet) Just place bones in a slow cooker and fill with water, then cover and let cook on low for a day or even longer…

Anytime I'm away from home is a great excuse for me to just fast. Easy-peasy when I'm busy and not working at home, just steps away from my fridge, lol.

- Brain fog lifted/gone. There are weeks and months of things that happened I do not remember very clearly before I was keto - Taking better care of myself is easy. Wish I'd found this WOL 16 years ago. - Mood, mood, mood. I was always irritable and/or negative about most everything. Now I'm only grumpy about some things…

I have no choice but to stay keto for life because not doing so will make me very sick and probably lead to an earlier grave than I wish for (plus, it's automatic for me after 2+ years, and I enjoy it...never was much of a sweet tooth and after all this time, I don't miss even savory carbage). I know this sounds like I'm…

Fantastic. I love all those people in it.

Fantastic.

It seems so silly to eat a food we consider boring or do not enjoy. What a waste! It's not sustainable to make yourself eat things you aren't enjoying. I love vegetables. I LOVE the sweetness of baby spinach, the crisp refreshing cucumber, bitter green peppers, broccoli, and leafy greens, they all taste different but I…

Wow this is a huge surprise coming from The Guardian.

T2 Diabetic, I use the Bayer Contour Next meter. Got a kit for under $9 on Amazon, comes with lancet device and 10 strips, and the refill strips are cheaper than what I was using before--can get a vial of 50 of the Bayer test strips for $12-15 vs $50 with the Accu-chek brand I had. I don't test my ketones. I can tell by…

Yes! I love to add zoodles to a bowl and pour ragu bolognese over them and sprinkle with Parmesan, then microwave (I make big batches of ragu with ground beef and ground Italian sausage), or add zoodles to hot broth/soups. Taco salads are my lunch most of the time, other times, I just eat some olives & cheese with some…

I make soups all the time with just vegetables, broths, and meats with spices and herbs and they fill me up. I don't miss noodley or potato-y things in soups or stews.

Goood o'l Joe "Let's not talk over each other'--then talks over everyone" Rogan. Lol This was a very popular episode on YouTube, as well. I'm glad to see Kresser getting the exposure.

You've lost 8 lbs in roughly 4 weeks, that's tremendous progress. Try to aim for 20 or less and see how that goes. Aside from that, eat when you're hungry, don't eat when you aren't.

<3 :) :)

Welcome and cheers to your successes

I said "required amount" to mean our bodies know what that amount is and we don't need to worry about it.

Oh, asparagus! I forgot, I use chopped asparagus in this recipe all the time, too!

You are welcome. It is my pleasure to share it :)

Yep, I'd seen the Bon Apetit piece before. The other link is better

Ah! Thank you.

I have only just now mastered the hunger issue (mostly) by fasting until noon or later, if I can help it, then making sure I don't eat past 7 p.m. I also am a big veggie head. I eat massive amounts daily and just use meats for seasonings, mostly (LOL). I should up my protein some more. I am honestly more satisfied when I…

That's awesome!

Correct. I like to say to people that while glucose is needed by the body, carbohydrates are not necessary for us to include in our diets in order for our bodies to produce the required amount, and that usually seems more clear.

I'm so sorry for your MIL and for your family in dealing with this. As an observer only, I was hopeful that cancer could be starved with keto/fasting but it looks like I have to do my research. Thanks for the links, guys.

My mood and energy were improved almost immediately (as in, just a couple weeks or so). My breakfasts were typically almost no carbs (usually 5g or less) in the beginning and the highest fat/protein meal of my day and I almost literally zoom after eating fat. Especially noticed mental clarity and mood boost after coconut…

Yep! Sodium is good for us!

I'm also a picky egg eater. I don't care for the taste of eggs but I enjoy the texture as long as they're whipped, plus they're cheap and low carb protein. My eggs have to be beaten to within an inch of recognition with cream and baked or as an omelet stuffed with stuff, or scrambled with cream and smothered with cheese,…

I GOTTA make these and/or the pizza ones and cheese Danish ones that Up Late Anyway has posted (http://www.uplateanyway.com/keto/cheese-danish-low-carb/). I've been looking at this type of stuff for a year now. Lol I need to get more almond flour from Amazon, I'm fresh out.

That's my jam, right there - once a week, I make that. Usually I fry the kielbasa slices, then steam/braise the cabbage with bacon fat + butter. I always add some smoked paprika, garlic powder, a few slivers of onion, and sometimes I use Tony Chachere's creole seasoning.
