  • Tons of great vegan websites and cookbooks... one of the best is "Babycakes". There are two out now and I have tried a couple of the recipes. Good luck.
  • For me, sugar is sugar... although fruit has other benefits, if you are counting sugars I would count any fruit towards that total.

  • I recently started using Bluebonnet Whey protein. It is one of the purest whey protein powders I could find. Derived from grass fed cows, not treated with hormones or antibiotics, no artificial sweeteners or flavors and no added sugar. It mixes up well. I usually just shake it up with water for my post workout recovery and…
  • I love making salmon patties. Mix up a couple of cans, an eggs, celery, onion, spices... I find that they warm-up pretty well for lunch the next day. I am not a huge fish fan and I find these very good. I follow a paleo diet... you can Google "paleo salmon cakes" and a lot of sites will show up. No added breadcrumbs, etc.
  • Not sure what you have access to or how much time you want to spend cooking at this time, but my go-to emergency meal is an omelet. Three eggs with some veggies (peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc) is a satisfying low-carb meal.
  • I was getting ready to post the same thing. It really does work!
  • How about the wise words from Tony, "Do your best and forget the rest". Seriously, if you are going through some stressful times you have to do what you can do... I would not give up on the whole process. Something is better than nothing. That being said... it would be hard to progress through the 12 weeks without the…
  • Go and check it out. If they have an beginners or "on ramp" class give it a try. If they do not offer any instruction I would be cautious. In either event, you won't know unless you go.

  • Pick a plan that you can live with and follow it. All plans work to some degree, especially in the beginning. You have to find something you can live with even after you lose the weight or it will all come back.
  • Good for you! The first race is always very exciting. There are many free training plans on-line.... I started off with Hal Higdon. the important part is to follow the plan, whichever plan you chose. The plan will help you build the miles safely. 4.2 is an odd distance so you probably will not find a specific plan for…
  • This implies I have to make a choice. I like to do both.... I look forward to my long runs Saturday as much as I do the HITT training I do on Monday nights. I think they serve different purposes and one should not be excluded over the other. I would not WANT to do either one daily as my only exercise.
  • I love Tabata, too - the workout is intense and fast. My favorite is a Tabata row followed by box jumps, push-ups, sit-ups, then squats. I like having friends over to workout... crank up the music, set the Gymboss timer and go! Every four minutes we all rotate.
  • I know there is new 30 DS out in stores now you can look into. Personally, I needed a change of pace after doing it for 30 days and starting a running program to get outside.
  • I was 100+ overweight when I first did 30 Day Shred in 2009. I had to modify a lot, but I did it religiously and followed a clean diet. It worked for me. I think I lost about 16 pounds that month.. I took the program literally and did it for 30 days straight (not right or wrong, just what I did). You can do anything you…
  • I have a desk job but work out an hour or more a day, most days strenuously... however, I want to keep it real and not over inflate my numbers so I keep it at sedentary.
  • I am new here, but I would just like to comment. Just like with any workout you have to do what you enjoy and build your fitness. My personal path was Jillian Michael's DVDs (yes, Shred is amazing and will whip you into shape!), graduated to P90X... it was my gateway to more intense fitness and gave me the confidence to…
