  • Congratulations on your success! You will have to do some experimenting to see what works for you before a run or workout. I like to eat a little bit of carbs and protein about 2 hours before a long run - like sweet potatoes and an egg. If my run is shorter I might just do a banana an hour before.
  • I have used it for some foot problems and it helped me. The KT website has good instructional videos to help you apply it correctly.

  • Hi - I live in a little town called Columbus in NC. I work in Spartanburg, SC.
  • We went to Hunting Island State Park in SC years ago and remember it being very nice. We have done most of our camping in the Smokies... so not sure how far you want to drive. Cades Cove in TN is over an 8 hour drive for you... but it is really nice. If you ride bikes the Virginia Creeper Trail is fun... it starts in…
  • Yes, it is tiring for sure. I lost 85 pounds over the past couple of years religiously logging every calorie consumed and expended. When I found paleo I stopped and I felt so much better mentally. That being said... I guess since I wasn't always diligent with my food choices, I have not lost any weight from making the…
  • Totally new at this and did the first workout tonight. I am going to plan on doing Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday and adjust as needed.
  • Did you assign tags? I was poking around and saw that. I know with blogs the tags are often what helps with searches. Just a thought.
  • I so appreciate the advice. I am going to get started at it and scale back as needed. I am training for a 60K bike ride in a couple of weeks then my first sprint tri towards the end of June. I have a solid base so looking for strength to increase my speed and get up those hills! I like the simplicity of this program. I am…
  • Thanks for the tip! I need to read more about the program I guess! Maybe I will take some more time to review before I start.
  • Hi Everyone! I am looking forward to swtiching things up. I have never done a program like this before but I know I need to get stronger to improve my performance. I am a runner and recently started cycling and swimming with the goal of competing in triathlons. I am not built for speed but my endurance is good... I just…
  • I am going to check this out, too. I have been neglecting weights and I can feel it. I know to swim/bike/run faster I need to get stronger.
  • My best time is 2:16, but my goal is eventually to run one under 2 hours. I am just not built for speed:)
  • I have come to enjoy just some olive oil and lemon juice on my salad. it might seem bland at first because your taste buds are used to all the salt and other nasty stuff in dressing, but soon you will enjoy the clean taste. With just the lemon and olive oil you can really appreciate the veggies underneath.
  • That happens to me sometimes. I love eggs but lately I don't even want to look at one! They are such an easy breakfast so I hate that I don't want to eat them. I figured it was my body's way of telling me I have had enough. I hope it doesn't happen with avocados!

  • My food diary is public... you are welcome to check it out.
  • I love my compression shorts and will not run without them. Since I have a bit of giggle with the rubbing then shorts have two purposes... prevent chafe and hold the giggle down to a minimum!
  • Get a can of coconut milk and drink... the full fat in the can, not the new stuff in the carton. A big salad with chicken breast and a whole avocado and some macadamia nuts on the side. A big rib-eye with a sweet potato and some coconut oil. So many options...
  • There are tons of demos online - just google it. I love my foam roller and use it daily.
  • Elimating packaged foods/convience foods of all kinds will have an immediate affect on your sodium levels. This is including but not limited to chips, cookies, canned soups, lunch meat, frozen meals, canned veggies, fast food, cottage cheese, etc. Not saying you eat all those things but when you chose fresh, whole foods,…
  • Ditto the Polar F40. It is simple to use and gives everything you need to help you get into shape. I have found the best prices on-line at: http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/ft40-all.html
  • Sweet potatoes Carrots Parnips Acorn Squash Beets Raisins Dates Banana Mango Pears Apple Pineapple Peach
  • I have never seen any claim that they have no added sugar... the ingredients list clearly states they add glucose. The only thing I see that their label says is: All natural Gluten and Wheat free Low Glycemic Index
  • I found this fantastic local pork sausage that I love. I precook it for the week then warm it up in a pan in the morning and toss in some veggies like shredded cabbage, mushrooms, etc. So yummy. The fat from the pork coats the veggies and keeps me happy until lunch.
  • I am not skinny yet either but I do eat sweet potatoes before my long runs as pre and post exercise nutrition (with fat and protein as well).
  • First, you need to start practicing your race day nutrition with your long training runs... including how you fuel and hydrate in the 2 days before your long run. That will help you know what to expect race day. I generally follow a lowish-crab diet and don't really "carb load" the night before. I just start adding a few…
  • Good job! I bet your dog loved it, too!

  • My favorites are olives, coconut flakes, coconut milk (from the can) and avocados.
  • I like the idea of not having to weigh and measure and maybe I will get there, but right now it is a good tool. Since I am just beginning I am still struggling with digestive issues so having the food logged will help me keep track of when I feel good and not so good. The first week I did weigh and measure just so I could…
  • I went through a period where I wanted to have a "mantra" to repeat, but nothing stuck. Instead, I have really done a lot of work working on being positive... it really does take a lot of practice for me but it works. For example - Instead of saying to myself "I am not going to walk"... I focus on "I am running smooth and…
  • When I first signed up I got a lot of follow-up e-mails from the site giving me links and directions. Right now you can get a 15 day free trial of the menu generator... you have to give your credit card info because they will start charging you if you do not cancel at the end of the 15 days, but just mark your calendar. It…
