Wow, 64 pounds is great! Thanks, that helps. There are just so many diets out there that after awhile I just feel frustrated by them all and all the conflicting information. Some say that Atkins is bad for your kidneys, have you had any trouble with that? Thanks again, Patti

Welcome back Sara (I assume it is Sara?), Isolation is part of our illness, so find a meeting you really like and make it "yours." If the first one isn't a match try another one. And you can send me a friend request if you like. I love the support here. I usually respond to my "friends" often, although as of late I haven't…

Nice Laurel, and congratulations on your hard work paying off. :) I got a sponsor back in June of this year and I call my food in the night before also. That works really well. I also call my sponsor if I change anything food-wise (before I eat it). I'm in the middle of working step 4 of the 12 steps and listen to meetings…

Hi, I sure do understand. It's that obsession of the mind + allergy of the body...and it goes round and round. The only thing that has helped me is working the 12 step program, using the tools - phone calls, writing, reading, meetings, etc. And man, sometimes I don't feel like it, and I have to tell myself do it anyway. ;)…

Hi Wanda, I am happy for you and your happiness. :flowerforyou: One day at a time, one meal at a time, we can do this. I am coming up on 4 months of abstinence, and if I work the steps and use the tools that will continue. Do you have a sponsor yet? If not, I would highly recommend getting one to help guide you. It has…

Hi, is it Beth? :) Nice to have you here joining with us. There are only a few meetings in my area too, but one of them I can hit right after work (and they don't mind that I get there halfway through). Other than that I rarely can make the other meetings available. I will sometimes go to an AA meeting. Online there is a…

Hello :flowerforyou: I think different things work for different people. For me food exchanges would probably be more like a diet than entering my food on MFP. What I like about MFP is I can enter the food and it counts for me, so it gets it out of my head. Like I said, we are all different. I would do what works for you.…

Okay, try listening to this: http://www.avision4you.info/home-page/special-recordings/special-editions-2013/ It's A Vision For You, the recording from July 28, 2013, A Journey Through the Steps by Don C. I think it may help. Plus this is a terrific recording. HTH, Patti

There is a really great recording special session on A Vision For you, from this guy that was just like you at first. I think it may help. I'll try to find the link later tonight and post it here, so you can listen to it. :) Patti

Hi, I'll try to share more later, heading out to work soon. :) I've had times of being obsessed with the scale. At one point in my life I weighed more than once a day, sometimes 3x's. I eventually got to weighing once a week. My sponsor wants me to weigh in once a month, but I can't quite go there yet. So I am weighing in…

Great topic! :) My sponsor and I had a similar conversation in person this week. She wants me to only weigh myself once a month. I am weighing in twice a month (I used to weigh once a week so this is a stretch for me). We then got into a discussion of calorie counting. I kept asking her what is the difference between…

Hi, I can understand the social anxiety. Plus ours is a disease of isolation, so isolating makes my little overeating disease happy and it feeds off it (literally, lol). The meetings I go to here are pretty small. I did attend one meeting once where it was just myself and one other person. We just sat and talked…

Hi, and welcome. I found this site helpful. There are daily recordings and special edition recordings that you can listen to. I've found that helpful because there is only one meeting face to face I can get to here in the town I live in. http://www.avision4you.info/ I related to a lot of what you wrote. You are not alone.…

I like that, the person who has been abstinent the longest is the one who was up the earliest today, LOL. I became abstinent June 21, 2013. So I am a couple or so weeks shy of 60 days. Patti

We;ve each been there at one point or another. Good plan to start working the steps. Step one. One day at a time. You are not alone. Patti  :flowerforyou:

Hey I forgot we already are friends! :blushing:

Hi, I am 55 and having OA friends on here is great! I'll send you a friend request. Patti

Hi, I can understand feeling more confident with opera. I am a musician and when I play sax in the bands I play in I have confidence. But not as much in person with people. Our disease is one of isolation, isolation feeds it (literally). My sponsor has asked me to make one, just one outreach call a day, and I have as of…

Good morning sunshine :flowerforyou: Yes they grow up. I had three boys, and they all moved out pretty close to the same time. Two of the three moved back with me at different times, but now all have their own families and are all doing well. And your daughter will love her iPhone! I am a lover of Apple Mac products.…

Welcome back. My name is Patti and I am a recovering compulsive overeater. :) And good for you for just jumping back in. Instead of focusing on regretting the past, you are focusing on today. One day at a time. Keep reading the big book and doing the daily work. The rewards are endless. My gratitude's yesterday were the…

Good for you for making three outreach calls and attending the funeral. Letting go can feel difficult. I find when I become attached is when it's hardest to let go of someone or something. But does that mean I hold myself back from attachment because I don't want to get hurt? No. Life is full of different…

Hi, I can understand and relate to some of your feelings. Feelings pass. I know when you are in them they feel like they won't, and sometimes those feelings seem to swallow up your heart as it breaks into millions of pieces. A few years back my husband of 34 years asked for a divorce, just out of the blue, and it…

Hi Heather and welcome. First of all the good news is you can't really screw it up. Isn't that nice! I have found that my journey to health has taken some time of experimenting to find the right calorie limit for me. Like "aim" I work out, and to tell you, I've never tried eating only 1200 calories, and…

Congratulations on your goal day! You made such a huge transformation. I imagine that you feel like a different person, both inside and out, because as I lose weight I am finding myself...the real me that was inside all along but not living, just existing. You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you for sharing. Patti

Ah so that photo did come out okay, LOL, I think I just needed to refresh my screen. thanks gals! Patti

This is an interesting thread. I agree on the above quote with Mina. But - I say hey, it really doesn't matter. For instance, let's say you count housework, etc. but are not losing weight. Then it would be obvious that you'd want to stop counting that (since it isn't helping) and begin counting the gym, or a brisk walk, or…

Hi, I relate. I finally have deemed myself a sugar addict. I act the same way towards it as an alcoholic towards alcohol. You may want to check out Radiantrecovery.com HTH. :)
