  • I found some Swiss vegapure in a pharmacy today - conatins vegetable sterol esters, and claims to lower cholesterol. I'm going to try it and see what changes in my counts by the time I re-test my levels in Sept.
  • Sounds like some socializing time might be just what you need (if you're an extrovert...?)- I hope you can relax and enjoy your friends. Remember, you are not alone, and all of us struggle with some part of this journey. Maybe a gratitude journal, or a bit of time to flip through some family photos to get life back in…
  • Thanks for being brave enough to share your story - I cannot imagine! It is so inspiring. One good choice after another, right? Keep it up!
  • I agree - especially after I finally broke the bank to buy myself my own dozen, only to discover they still have 195 cholesterol! That's my whole day, right there! Sheesh!
  • Mississauga, Ontario! But my heart is in Muskoka ;)
  • Here I am, add me too!
  • bump - and thanks!
  • leesllim4life - that's crazy! Congratulations! I'm still so confused about what I should and shouldn't eat (I know it's not that hard, but I did some reading on the raw diet and I'm getting the two mixed up) that I actually gained 2.5 pounds this morning! I weigh MORE than I did when I started - BOO! I'll keep trying…
  • THAT is my LIFE! So discouraging! Sodium is one thing I haven't been tracking, chicpeach, thanks for the tip! My chiropractor recommended "The Hormone Diet" for me. I'm just researching it now. Here's the link http://www.thehormonediet.com/ If enough of us decide we like it, we could set up a super-charged hormone diet…
  • Well, I'm re-reading and learning as I go...I'm down a pound this morning, but as I review the list, I'm like crazy illegal, even though I'm eating lots of raw. Sorry about my ignorance - I'll try and improve. I have MCT oil and fiber from different companies that you dictated - how big a deal is that?
  • Better day today! No coffee, steamed/raw veggies and balanced of fruit. Lots of raw. Planning on some fish tonight, but don't have Tilapia, so Haddock will have to do. Still a bit of a headache, but have the the fiber and MCT oil (different brand name - sorry!) 40 minutes on the bike, outside in the sunshine on the way…
  • Sorry - I've been durp about navigating this site... Starting weight = 163.6 (still/again - I've been here since the beginning of December! up a pound/down a pound and back here I bounce!)
  • Tried the "hide the fiber" idea tonight, and decided to hide veggies, MCT oil in too! Not bad - except now I'm wide awake! Oil in the morning - RIGHT!!!!
  • Day 3: a coffee again today, but just one, all black. Lots of green tea, too, even though it's not on the list (is it?) I found it in lots of raw lists. My day has been 75% raw - yay! Tons of water, and a bit of fish today to hold off the hunger. Have a headachey feel, but it's not too extreme. 600 calories left in my day…
  • Day 2: part way there! Only 1 black coffee, lots of frozen fruits and veggies today. Only almonds so far in the protein category, but I don't have any oil yet, so...need to get on that! Head is aching now - I'll try more water.
  • think I came in at about my 50% today - best day for eating control that I've had in a long time! Even shut down the cookies at my friend's house, and she makes the best chocolate chip cookies. Tomorrow, down to one cup of coffee, and fewer carbs, under 100. Shooting for 75% raw. Did some more research, and found that I…
  • I'm kinda breaking in carefully, lowering dairy and carbs today while focusing on lots of veggies. I confess, I had a coffee this morning, too. I need to drink more water, too. Today's goal is to make sure that at least 50% of my calories are raw, while I go to the health food store for the oil and fibre tonight. Tomorrow…
  • Now THAT was an informative thread, ladies - thanks! No smoke smells yet (that aren't real - my townhouse "leaks" on occasion during football season) Trying a "hormone balancing water" recipe this week. Maybe worth a try? juice of 1/2 to 1 whole organic lemon 1 inch slice of fresh ginger, sliced pinch of cayenne pepper 1…
  • I'm looking to start it, but have to get rid of this sinus infection first. Keep me posted!
  • I'm 5 '6" Highest weight - 198 (post twins!) SW - 184 CW - 162 GW - 140 I was about 140 - 145 when I was married, maybe dropped to 135ish a few years later. For me, I can't see anything lower than 135 - I'd look like a scarecrow. I have a good Welsh farmer's build, athletic rather than bodacious, but larger up top. My hips…
  • Living the dream here in suburbia - Mississauga's the place to be! horseshoe valley's warrior dash will be a great thing to watch! (lol). I'll be there to cheer on a buddy, I hope! Feel free to friend me too!
  • You need to go to the site listed a few posts up and fill in your data.
  • Sometimes, for two reasons. 1. For me, it increases the commitment level - now I'm accountable to make sure it happens. My buddies are already cheering me on. 2. As my "burns" get higher, I need to plan my macros throughout the day. The first time I had to come home at 9:30 at night and try to eat back 800 calories was…
  • My husband cooks, so I plan out my breakfast/lunch, and then manage with portion control for supper. He knows to make a large salad for me when the menu's not so mama-friendly. It took a while for him to believe I was serious. I actually got up and made an alternative supper sandwich with salad about 3 times before he…
  • Congratulations! I see it in the torso - FOR SURE!
  • So many good pieces of advice, all higgledy-piggledy in with no rhyme nor reason. Do you have 1 person in your life who will take this seriously, support you, but hold you accountable to getting help? The depression will make it very hard to do anything at all. I second the challenge - stop hiding it, at least with one…

  • bumped up a pound - way too many unusual foods in one week - so I'm preparing for a solid week of chicken salads, hard boiled eggs and low carbs. Am I the only one who has a harder time drinking my water when it's cold outside? Is herbal tea an appropriate replacement? I'm also realizing that sometimes I push my workouts…
  • With all that you've lost, you may have "go to" foods that help your body "feel" good - and shake some bloating, etc. Maybe it's a good week to just "get back to basics" with your body's favourite foods. Maybe that will help settle it back down. May I just encourage you not to let one pound dishearten you? I know you've…
  • Fight on, lady - you know you're on the right track! Congratulations on recovering yourself.
