Friend Request sent. Happy to be included as a friend if anyone else is looking.

I've been here for a few months now and yes, you are in good company feeling like this. We all have 'off days' when it all seems pointless, but stick with it, you'll get through it. Your body is undergoing change, you'll need to adapt to this, but don't give up!
-
A link to the Guidelines is at the foot of every page on MFP afaik.

Take your time. If you try and lose 5lb a week every week, you won't keep the weight off in the long run. Losing at the rate of 1lb-2lb a week is the best way to make a permanent loss.

Add request sent. Always happy to be added as a friend for anyone looking for support.

I walk to and from work each workday (2 miles each way). At weekends I still walk, but usually around Tesco! My wife has been using the Leslie Sansome Walk At Home videos which she really enjoys. I guess walking is our main way of keeping fit!
-
^^^ I quite agree. She's seen your progress and got jealous, hence the snide remarks and lack of support. Now she's realised you're in it for the long run and wants some of it herself. Politely point out to her that you are expert enough in kettlebell, running, et al and you'd be happy to advise HER, if she's willing to…

I'll second Endomondo, assuming you have a smartphone!
-
I'll be 59 in a few weeks, I have two kids, happily married for 38 years. Happy to be added as a friend, if anyone wants me!

You're obviously making all the right changes in diet and exercise, so if your levels aren't going down perhaps you need to check in with your doctor? You could print off a few of your daily diaries and get his/her opinion, just to make sure everything is going OK.
-
My food diary is public, anyone is free to browse it. I tend not to comment on other people's diaries as I believe we're adult enough to take responsibility for our own eating and drinking habits. They are a good place for ideas though!

Friend request sent. Happy to be added by anyone else looking for friends at this time.

hate2bheavy - You ask for friends close to your age, but your profile is closed, so we have no idea how old you are. Perhaps some clues might help?
-
Happy to be added as a friend. Love the support of others and always keen to support as well.

I don't think it matters, they both burn about the same calories for the distance covered, it's just that running is quicker. Me? Walk!
-
I would save your money and buy a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) instead. I had a FitBit for a week and returned it (got a full refund from Amazon) as it wasn't much of an asset for me (I've written it all up in my blog). I don't have an HRM, but comments I've read they seem to be very useful and adaptable pieces of kit.

Faustfly and Rarnick, it's a UK thing! We're used to weighing ourselves in stones and pounds, not just pounds. Losing a stone is a big milestone for us Brits. As MrsM1ggins says, it's 14 pounds.
-
Always happy to be added as a friend.

Sending you a request. Happy to be added!

Bump. I'm in a similar position (7lbs to go), although not so fussed about a six-pack (I'm almost 60 years old!). Would be interested in tips for maintaining and toning though.
-
Great post, I'm not far short of my target weight and been pondering on this subject myself. Thanks for the tips everyone.
-
I found the counting of steps taken was spot on, but I had great difficulty in getting the distances I walked to be recorded acurately. I returned mine for a refund, but I know many others on MFP have had great success with their Fitbits. It just didn't work for me.

Well done! Once you're on a positive trend anything is possible. Keep it up!
-
Great pictures. I love the last one, you look a bit startled at the progress you've made. Well done!
