  • Always ready to have new friends. Been here a while and I log every day so happy to help.
  • No reason to be sad about trying again. Many of us here are trying (and succeeding) not for the first time. Welcome back and enjoy your return. Feel free to add me as a friend if you want.
  • So depressing, no-one appears to be over 60! Anyway, for the record: CW - 179 GW - 160 H - 5' 7" Age - 62
  • As you're new, don't bother buying equipment such as Heart Rate Monitors (HRM), Pedometers and the such-like just yet, you can always get one in time if you want. Use MFPs own Exercise database, http://www.myfitnesspal.com/exercise/lookup and select the relevant walking speed that applies, probably 3mph. You can select a…
  • Happens to us all, on several occasions in my case! You can take comfort in knowing you succeeded once (and what a great success, if I may say so) and you can do it again.

  • Please add me to your friends list if you want. I've been on MFP for about 3 years, and lost 40lbs. I've slipped recently and put some of it back, so settling down for serious weight loss in 2015. Gillian, to add a friend click on the person's name and then select the Add Friend button :)

  • You have this quote in your bio, "As a warning, I over think things and I worry a lot." Well, don't! At the beginning of maintenance it's hard to find the right balance, but you will eventually get a daily calorie allowance that works for you. Try to stick to that and then use your exercise calories for treats and…
  • This is a old post, but it explains the process very well. It uses Photobucket to host photos, but most should work: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/262875-need-help-adding-pictures-look-here-pic-heavy
  • Congratulations! I remember when I reached the same milestone and the feeling is awesome. Keep it up and well done!
  • I so agree with this! I've been maintaining for a few weeks, but keeping my calorie intake a little lower, 'just in case'. I've now made the decision to go to the maintenance level and trust in myself. The OP article is a great inspiration to help me with this.
  • I'm a little confused. You say, That implies you are male. Yet your profile states, Her profile. Have you not set your profile up correctly, perhaps? Add me if you want extra support. I've been here some time and MFP is working for me.
  • A fabulous break by the sounds of it. Very jealous of the kayaking, been years since I was in a canoe.
  • I'm not a doctor, but it is a bit on the high side. My GP put me on medication when my BP was hitting 150/100 and it came down to 140/90. Since dieting (and I've lost a fair bit of weight), my BP has gone to around 130/80, my GP is happy and reduced the meds with a view to cutting them out if I stay at that level. Age is…
  • Thank you OP, this is excellent. Added web site as a bookmark.
  • 8 cookies = 300g 1 cookie = 300 / 8, roughly 40g 100g = 25 cals 40g = 25 / 100 x 40, roughly 10 cals
  • The 1200 that MFP is quoting is sufficient for you to lose some weight. If you also exercise you are 'earning' more calories and it's a good idea to 'eat back' those exercise calories. For example, I have 1200 calories a day allocated by MFP. I also walk 2 miles to work and two miles home again. The walking 'earns' me…
  • My doctor asked me how I had lost weight. I told him about MFP and he said he'd pass on the information to other patients. Wish I had shares in this place!
  • Thanks for posting this Eliza, I'll try it later and let you know how I get on! :o)
  • I've recently taken out a 3 months membership, enough time to know if it's doing me any good and if I'll be able to/want to keep it up. So far (two weeks in) I've been twice a week for the gym, plus an extra visit for classes (yoga). This week I'm trying pilates and giving yoga a miss. So far, it's enjoyable, whether it'll…
  • ^^^ ditto
  • Fast approaching 60, so I guess I qualify! Happy to be added as a friend. There are also a couple of 50+ groups on MFP as well, http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/271-fit-after-50 and http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/13-50-fabulous-and-fit and there may even be more!
  • ^^^ This - and I'm pleased to see you took the advice. Thank you.

  • Same thing has happened to me this week. My doctor took me off of Bendroflumethiazide, as my blood pressure has improved since losing over 40lbs. I added three pounds this week, but I know it's water retention, so I just need to carry on regardless!
  • I'm just about to start maintenance as well, so would like to 'buddy up' if that's OK? (I've sent an FR). I've been slowing down my loss over the past few weeks, to ease into maintenance. Trying to up my calories with healthy options is the plan (more nuts and dried fruit probably).
  • 1. Let MFP work out your calorie allowance for the day. 2. Let MFP work out your exercise allowance for the day. 3. Add 1 and 2 together to give you total calories you can eat for the day. 4. Eat the total in 3. Simples
  • When I first joined I was desperate for friends (Billy No Mates!), so added lots. I'm now around 100+, but I do enjoy motivating when I can and, if I'm honest, getting motivated in return, so this isn't an onerous number. I'm not too concerned about posting on everyone's activity daily and I don't think they expect it. I…
  • I'm happy to be added as a friend if you're looking for support.
