  • Hi! I'm kind of in the same boat. I started keeping track of my diet/exercise on MFP about two years ago when I was trying to get in shape for a wedding I was in. I did really great (lost about 55 pounds)...but then took a week off after the wedding...which turned into several months off! haha. And with those several…
  • Hi everyone! I just stumbled upon this group and I think it's awesome! Is it too late to join?? I joined MFP a little less than a year ago and did great with eating right and working out until this last August. I was the maid of honor in a wedding (that was my original motivation to get into shape) and I stopped working…
  • This list is really helpful! I used to drink a Long Island Iced Tea almost everytime I went out in college...they're almost 800 calories!?!?!?!? No wonder I gained 27 pounds in college! Also, I've heard vodka is one of the lowest calorie hard alcohols...so you could do vodka and soda, a vodka cranberry, screw driver (you'd…
  • It's SO frustrating when restaurants don't post nutrition facts! Try googling "applebee's nutrition info/facts." You can sometimes find them on other health websites such as calorieking.com, dailyplate.com (this might be under thedailyplate.com), or even MFP. Hope this helps! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Diet…
  • Hey everyone!!! I can't believe July is almost over!? I didn't do the shred as much as I'd liked last week...I had to attend two bridal showers this weekend, one of which I planned. And to top it off, I go a cold over the weekend. :grumble: So I think I'm going to rest up today...hopefully I'll be back in Shredding shape…
  • I weigh myself almost everyday. I find that it helps keep me on track throughout the week. I know that I'm not going to lose 10 pounds in one day...but if I start out my week not doing so great and step on the scale on Wednesday and see I've gained a pound, I'm more likely to get my butt in gear for the rest of the week.…
  • I agree with betheranne...I wouldn't worry about it. You should let yourself have a treat once in awhile! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Easy Calorie Counting
  • dixon5000 gave some really good advice. I've hit a plateau twice before and upping the length and intensity of my cardio is what really helped me get over those plateaus. Also, as far as inches lost...I don't know how accurate this is but I have heard that it takes about 20 pounds to lose one inch (it took me about 30…
  • Have you been taking your measurements? My belly is my main trouble spot...I've lost about 3.5 inches around my waist (it took me a little over 8 months)...BUT, I definately STILL have a belly! It is smaller...and I am a size smaller but I still have a significant pooch. You may have lost inches...it may just take a little…
  • Hello everyone!!! Sorry I kind of disappeared for awhile. I'm the maid of honor in a wedding in about 4 weeks so my life is crazy busy with bridal showers, parties, and luncheons (sp?). Anyway, I'm still shredding though! The wedding was the whole reason I really got my butt in gear and started working out and eating…
  • That's awesome!!! :flowerforyou: You'll reach that 20-pound mark before you know it! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • Target, Old Navy, The Gap, Anthropologie, Kohls. Love Urban Outfitters too! But I'm waiting until I get to my goal weight to go on a shopping spree there! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • I'm curious about that too. I've seen TV ads for ZUMBA and the calorie loss that they claim seems a little to good to be true. It does look like an awesome workout though! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter

  • Iron supplements can be hard for your body to absorb. But I take a really great one that is made 100% from food sources...so it absorbs easily and it is gentle on the tummy. Iron is best supplied by food, but this is a great alternative since it's made from food. Plus, it doesn't contain any bad additives. It is called:…
  • leshawnturner - we're on a new thread this week. Here is the link to the new one - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/59137-week-5-july-shredders
  • Hi everyone! I joined this group when it first began...then kind of lost touch...but I'm back! I think this is a great idea for a group! I don't see how it could be offensive. No one here is telling anyone what they should or should not believe. We are just trying to encourage each other! Created by…
  • I use a Tanita brand scale. I bought mine at Bed Bath and Beyond. I had a Taylor one too - I really disliked it - wasn't consistant at all. The Tanita brand is great though! Very accurate and consistant! I'm really happy with it! The model number of mine is Tanita BF-679W. You may be able to find it on Amazon too. Created…
  • Karlira - thanks for the concern about my injuries! I decided to take today off from the Shred. I want to let my knee and wrist heal! But I can't wait to get back to the Shred later this week!!! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • Good for you!!! I'm inpressed! It's hard to stay on track when you're with family...because there always seems to be food around! This weekend was tough for when it came to eating. I give myself one "treat" day a week...so that day was Saturday for me because of the holiday. And then on Sunday, my family ordered…
  • I have felt that way after drinking caffeine (not after working out though). After too much caffeine I feel anxious and jittery sometimes. But I wouldn't neccessarily blame it on the green tea. Tea has very, very little caffeine. Did you feel nausious (sp?) at all? You could have been dehydrated.
  • Wow! The Banish Fat Boost Your Metabolism dvd sounds awesome! Intense but awesome! Maybe would should all try that one when we're done with our second round of the Shred?? Anyone up for a Banish Fat Boost Your Metabolism group for August?? Just a thought! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Calorie Counter
  • I use a Tanita scale and I love it! The model I have is the BF-680W. It's very acurate and consistant. I found mine at Bed Bath and Beyond and I think they sell it on amazon.com as well. This scale also measures body fat and water percentage. However, I've heard that, even on a really good scale, it's hard for these two…
  • Vans - no worries about not posting our results yet! I haven't added up my total inches yet...I think I'll go do that now! Well, I think I'll do the Shred first actually! Congrats on losing 12 inches and 11 pounds!!! That's awesome! :flowerforyou:  And I agree with you...it's so helpful to know others are…
  • I still do the modified push-ups too! I can do maybe one or two real push-ups...they are so hard for me!!! When I was in middle school, the gym teacher called modified/knee push-ups "girl push-ups" and the gym teacher was a woman! She was insulting her own kind! To this day, I still catch myself calling them "girl…

  • I'm sorry that happened to you...but good for you for standing up for yourself!!! Fat jokes are one of the few forms of ridicule that are still somewhat acceptable and I think that is rediculous. I've struggled with weight for several years and even though I've never blatently (sp?) been made fun of, kids would make little…
  • Hi! I know exactly how you feel. When I started working out consistantly last fall, I ran one block and thought my lungs were going to explode! So I just started out walking briskly and up hills. I did this for awhile (and if you walk briskly and keep your heart rate up, it's GREAT exercise! I lost about 30 pounds just…
  • That happened to me. I went from a pretty cheap scale to one with really good reviews. But I was 3 pounds heavier :grumble: I just changed my beginning weight to 3 pounds more (since I was using the cheaper scale when I started) and I changed my current weight to 3 pounds more as well. If you change both your current…

  • Hello everyone!!! Day 5 of level 3 DONE!!! Five more days and then I'm going to start over with level 1 for July! Didn't lose any weight this week but did lose some inches. Also, I'm definately building muscle in my arms and legs. I can actually flex my bicep! Granted, it's a pretty small bicep, but it's still a bicep!…
