  • GREAT that you still tracked your calories. It's way too easy to simply stop logging on an 'off day' - but you'll always win when you're honest with yourself. And somehow, the act of logging (paying attention to what you're eating and taking responsibility for it) helps you lose more weight in the long run, even when you…
  • Anyone ever caught themselves waiting until everyone has left the house (or even the room) so you can grab something and snarf it down without getting 'caught'??? I'm at my worst when left unattended near food. I too think about food all the time. It can be both an obsession and an addiction. Every day it's a struggle. But…
  • I'm 5'4" and 172.4 pounds (started at 176.5). I'm at 1200 a day too, and I usually eat back my calories from exercise because I'm trying to break even at 1200 a day. I've lost 3.1 in 2.5 weeks, which is kind of slow but healthy and maintainable. On days when I don't exercise, it can be challenging to stay within 1200,…
  • Moving along slowly but surely! At this point, not tracking toward a 10-pound loss in January, but I'm losing and that feels GREAT! I had two not-so-great days last week, so this week I'm gonna BRING IT! Hoping next Sunday's loss is more than .6 for the week. Thanks for the motivation everyone! SW 175.5 lbs(Sunday Jan 1)…
  • You look incredibly!!!!! So inspiring!!!! Way to go!
  • 41 here! Happy to join. Need all the support I can get from people who know how hard it is when you're not in your 20s or 30s anymore! (Hell, it's always been hard to lose weight, but it's even harder now).
  • Let's see. I recruited my friend Carla, my sister Melissa, her husband Doug (she recruited him), my niece Taylor (Melissa recruited her too), my friend Holly, and then a few coworkers. The list keeps growing as we're seeing success. I LOVE MFP!
  • Overland Park, Kansas!
  • I ALWAYS eat the calories I get from working out. On days when I don't workout, I definitely feel the limits of the 1200 a day. Otherwise it's not that hard. That helps keep me motivated to work out. :-)
  • It's not necessarily the food, but the portion size of the food. I don't know about other nationalities, but we Americans are getting used to HUGE portions at restaurants, etc. When you really pay attention to what a serving size is of your favorite 'treats,' it can be a shocker. Still, once you can get a handle on portion…
  • I'm certainly no expert, but I always think it's best to listen to your body. If you're not hungry in the morning, so be it. If you're staying hydrating and eating healthy, I'm not sure it makes a difference. And if it's helping you drop the remaining pounds without making you feel deprived in any way, maybe it's what your…
  • Welcome! I've been on MFP for about two weeks now and have lost about 4 pounds, and it really isn't that hard. It's actually kind of fun, and I LOVE the support of my MFP friends. Feel free to add me for support and encouragement.
  • We all pig out from time to time! Just happens. No biggie. Get back on the right track today. Usually I try to drink extra water after a bad day, and if you can squeeze in a good workout, you'll feel better about yourself in no time!
  • You look fabulous!!! Congratulations! Your story is so inspiring!!!!!
  • I agree with pretty much everyone else. Chalk yesterday up to a binge day and start over today! Usually the day after a really bad day I try to drink twice as much water and get a good workout in! You'll flush out some of the toxins you put into your body yesterday and feel MUCH better about yourself. Eat your regular…

  • So happy you like the site and glad I was able to refer you! We'll both accomplish our goals this year, I know it! We have each other, and now all of our amazing MFP friends too!!!!
  • TOTAL obsession for me. I weigh myself in the morning every day, and usually step on the scale at least five times, moving the scale to different spots on the floor to see if the numbers change (they often do, my scale is a POS) and then I kind of 'average' the numbers together. I had my husband hide the scale for a while,…

  • That's about what I'd like to lose too. Don't have a timeframe in mind, although I'd love to look great on our boat this summer!
  • I'm in too! 41 years old - would love to lose the same number of pounds! LOVING MFP so far (started a week ago). I definitely think it's harder to lose weight now that I'm over 40, so I need all the support and encouragement I can get. My career and kids claim so much of my time, but I'm dedicated to making myself a…
  • Hi all. I'm Angie. 41. Mother of three and stepmom of two. Overland Park. Just joined MFP last week and I'm loving it so far. I feel like I've struggled with my weight since childhood. I'm 5' 4" and near my heaviest at 175 (used to always hover around 130 - before kids, anyway). I don't need to be skinny. In fact, I like…
  • Hi! I'm Angie. 41, mother of three from Overland Park, KS. Right now I'd call myself a 'past' runner. I've completed four full marathons (Chicago in 2001; San Diego in 2002; Grandma's in 2005 and the Marine Corps in 2010). The last one did me in - I had bad hip problems for the next several months. So, I stopped running…
  • Add me! The more friends, the stronger the support! We ALL need it!
  • I don't work out when I'm sick. I've done it before, and it always makes it worse. Drink plenty of water, sleep, rest. When you're feeling better, you'll work out even harder.
  • At the end of the day, our will power IS in our control. We just have to do a better job of convincing ourselves of that. I'm TOTALLY inspired by TazzytheMotivator! 201 pounds lost??!!! That's AMAZING! I'm on a 10-pound goal for January too. We CAN DO THIS!!!
  • After work is my worst time too! I stay on track during the day, and sometimes on my days off, but the evenings after work are SO HARD! Personally, this is my biggest hurdle, and one I plan to tackle this year on a DAY-to-DAY basis. I don't expect perfection from myself, but I DO expect to hold myself accountable. Having a…
