What sort of results have you seen from eating 1500? How much weight do you have to lose?

I haven't done it recently with the "new mfp" but in the past whenever I changed calorie goals, it changed across my entire diary history. I can go back to a period where I know my goal was 1400 calories and it raised my new calorie goal. Stupid, it makes it hard for me to track where I was actually meeting goals and not…

Yes. There is a rubber ring under the battery cap to help keep moisture out. Heck.. I've used mine in the swimming pool. Chances of survival are high.

As far as the 5k being only counted as 20 in your example, I'm guessing it would count the entire time because you had been previously active. And the stopping for water... if you continue on after your pause, I'm sure it will continue counting as well. Its not counting in 10 minute intervals.. its making sure that your…

The Charge HR would be the only fitbit that would give you anything close to accuracy with workouts that aren't strictly step related. I have the fitbit One and love it because it gives me a goal to achieve in steps or stairs climbed for the day and a general idea of how many calories I burn just going about my day. Its…

Running outside is definitely an adjustment from being propelled on a treadmill. Simply having to run against wind was so tiring. Try running slower than you think you should be until you become accustomed to the differences. As for pacing, you could try a gps watch or use gps through a smartphone. Or go low tech and try…

This copy cat recipe from Carrabbas's is nice. http://www.food.com/recipe/carrabbas-sausage-and-lentil-soup-162864 I usually only make a half recipe and find its good for about 4-5 good sized servings. I found that lentils did great things for my mood when I was really suffering PMDD swings when I came off birth control.…

9 to 5 isnt what dampens my motivation its the darkness of winter. December really destroyed me. You just have to look at it as prepping for summer...getting fit to look your best during all those warm sunlight hours. I can't wait! I keep myself in check by signing up for races. If I don't stick to my training schedule, I…

I love the stair climbing feature and the badges it gives for every miles stone... it was a great incentive to get that 100 flights climbed in a day, next up 125 someday! I stopped logging exercise all together (since mine was mainly step-based anyway) and just let fitbit adjust my mfp calorie goal based on my activity for…

I think maybe you need to gain some perspective. You've undergone a 108 lbs loss according to your profile. Weight is not going to come of nearly as quickly as when you started, sad to say. I'm my opinion, being under 200 lbs and losing 10 lbs in a month is PHENOMENAL. You obviously have a workout schedule that works for…

I second the audio books. They're the only thing I listen to while running. They're quiet enough that I can hear outside noise easily to keep me alert for people coming up behind me. I tend to lean towards mysteries or a story full of drama so I'm always wanting to know what's going to happen next. Working through Gone…

That happens a lot to me. I use a fitbit and it's set so that its estimating my calorie burn per day based on previous days. In actuality, I burned less than it was estimating I would for the 24 hr period, hence the disappearing calories. That time period after dinner and before midnight is really a toss up.

7000 calories doesn't sound all that far fetched to me for a 16 hour shift. I burn 1500 cals running for 2:30 hours during my long runs (with walking breaks) averaging a 11-12 minute pace overall. I'm 5'5, 180 lbs. and thats calculated by my forerunner 10 and fitbit. Definitely hydrate hydrate hydrate, making sure some of…

I have had this problem off and on many times. Some runs were great, others terrible. I did some googling around and found that your problem could be explained by where you are at in your monthly cycle. Yay hormones! I've seen dozens of references to the subject, but this site put it most simply. www.…

The fitbit allows you to enter both your running and walking stride. As long as you input this information correctly, it actually gives a pretty dang close measure of distance, I have found. I purchased a polar HRM two years ago, and now I hardly ever use it. But I am never without my Fitbit One. It motivates me to be more…

I feel like i hijacked the thread a bit. I'd be happy for fitbit friends. I have a One with a step goal of 10,000 a day. Sometimes I reach it. Tell me to get off my bum if you see me slacking! lol https://www.fitbit.com/user/2CGBDX

To make it work with your smart phone, you will have to check the fitbit site for compatibility. Then you just have to download the fitbit app and log into your account.

The fitbit is an overall activity monitor, it estimates calories burned throughout the entire day from you just going about your normal routine, that is why you wear it at all times. It is different from a heart rate monitor, in that the hrm is just used to measure a certain activity and will be more accurate with calorie…

Jen, which model did you get? Flex, One, Zip? Yes, you should wear it all the time. Yes, you can leave the usb bit plugged in at all times. It's what picks up the signal from your fitbit and auto syncs it to the website if you don't have another bluetooth device, like a smart phone. It determines calories burned based on…

Started running October of 2012, finished c25k in February 2013, ran first quarter marathon(6.55) in August in 1:11:26 and just contintued that training for my first half in October for a total of 21 weeks of training. Before the race, the furthest distance I had accomplished was 11 miles. I weighed 185 lbs and finished in…

I left mine set for a calorie goal above my bmr and turned off negative negative adjustments (so it wouldn't steal calories from me). It ended up working out just fine, I usually burn 22-2400 calories a day. I log all my food on mfp, but pay close attention to the calorie in/out meter and meal plan allotment on fitbit and…

Make sure you're doing a warm up with brisk walking for 5 minutes before you start in with the running.. and don't forget a 5 minute cool down as well, walking. Warm ups are very important. Also, if you didn't already, try bumping the incline to .5-1, this more closely simulates outside running and it helped me a lot with…

I've pretty much stopped logging all activities and just rely on my fitbit to do a calorie adjustment since most all my exercise is walking or running. Anything beyond that I kind of just count it as a bonus calorie burn. That being said, I've never logged anything on the fitbit site, only on mfp from the beginning. And…

A device that tracks your heart rate and gives an estimate of calories burned is called a Heart Rate Monitor, you might see them referred to on here as a HRM. There are a variety of brands that offer these. Once that use a chest strap transmitter with a watch band display are said to be more accurate for calorie burns…

You're hungry because your calories are set very low. And it looks like you don't eat back any of your exercise calories either. Using MFP's method, it is intended that you eat back at least some of your exercise calories.
-
Do you log and eat back exercise calories? Perhaps this is where inaccuracies lie for you. Sure, following the mfp method, you are supposed to eat back the calories you earned, but the methods used to calculate calories burned are estimates.
-
Keep your diet the same and change up your work out, either by doing different activities or changing up the intensity. If you continue not losing weight, then try adjusting your calories. Don't try changing your exercise and calories at the same time, otherwise you won't know which was causing your problem.

For new runners, I've always heard it said, always take a rest (no running) day between runs and don't increase your distance more than 10% in a week. This advice served me well. Now that I've been running for over a year, I can run more often with no problems, if the consecutive runs are of moderate distance that is. PS.…

Most my exercise is step based right now because i'm race training and only end up doing maybe 15-20 minutes of strength training. I stopped logging the strength because at absolute most it might have only been 200 calories which can easily be negated by food logging inaccuracies. My situation is a bit different than…
