Lots of folks responded to this already, but here's my secret. Don't believe a HR monitor, GPS thingie, treadmill, whatever... Rule of thumb: if you are exerting yourself- HR up, sweating, whatever, then you'll probably burn about 100 calls per every 10 min. So, 600 cals per hr is pretty normal. When I want 1,000 cals,…

Grilled chicken breast and homemade summer squash casserole. An Amy's Almond Shortbread for dessert!

Thanks so much for sharing- you are an inspiration! I would say you didn't change your lifestyle, you changed your LIFE. And your ink looks even better on your new shape!

I ABSOLUTELY love this thought!!!!

Just drink water. plain old water. from tap. from a bottle. from a filter. just water. for me, other beverages just don't taste good, especially diet ones.

Geez people. Can't we all just get along? Apparently not when it comes to juicing.

WOW- I am sooo impressed w/ your accomplishments! The pictures show a huge difference on the outside and I bet you feel amazing on the inside too. You are an inspiration!

That IS a lot of sugar. We only get the unsweetened Almond milk from Whole Foods (buy two at a time). It's cheaper than milk, it tastes great, less fat, less sugar, less calories and we use it every day in protein smoothies. Easy smoothie formula is... 1-1.5 scoops good quality vanilla or chocolate protein powder - we use…

Great work on the drop from 180 t0 145. The first is where I am now (after losing the last 5 lbs about ten times) and the latter is my goal weight. I'd suggest checking out the types of calories you are eating. I can't see your logs or anything, but if you aren't eating wholesome food, even w/ lower calories, you'll…

You can always try buckwheat pancakes. They aren't as low cal as some other options (ie oatmeal version), but I do not care for bananas and when I want pancakes, I prefer to make them from scratch. These are delicious w/ just a little real maple syrup (I'd rather have the calories than the chemicals of sugar free syrups)…

I don't know for sure, but I'd probably think that all of the above could help. Perhaps you can try each item for one full week. Another idea- you could try a heart rate monitor, if you haven't already. And try to stay in your fat burning zone as long as possible during your walks. This would also help you track calories…

Good timing- I just ordered the Polar 4 last night. My husband is a long time distance runner (talking 35+ years) and he contends that HR and time are actually more important than distance. Also, Garmins- while they have improved greatly- do not track distance quite like you'd expect. If you run anywhere w/ trees or lots…

Oh the irony... but what great progress. And I love that you see this as a victory- because it sure is!

Never even thought about this one- but I rarely wear anything other than a little clinique powder and a brush of mascara. And if it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone around you (not really sure how it could actually), go for it!!! I am super sensitive to smells though and I personally find it hard to work out near…

Hello- wondering how your trip to India went. I'll be traveling there in February for 2 weeks for work and I'm worried about what I'll be able to eat since I can't load up on fresh fruit and veg like usual. It'll be my second trip and all I remember eating from last time was bread or domino's pizza because my stomach was…

Gotta have my morning cup. I add 3-4 TBS of organic half and half. That's my splurge for the day.. and it's worth it. Those fake ie coconut milk or soy creamers are gross and anything sugar free is bad for you anyways. So, a little fat, a small bit of sugar. All in moderation.

If you want a grain, make it oatmeal. But- not the GMO, checically flavored, instant, artifically sweetened gruel. Just plain old rolled oats (not even quick cook). I find them very filling and the fiber will keep you going as well. I just put about 1/2-1 cup in a bowl (depending on how much I'm working out that day), add…

Nice job! Your results are fantastic and you should be very proud. I've got about 40 lbs to lose over next 5-6 months and I was thinking maybe that was too much to lose so quickly, but you're inspiring me. Thanks for posting.
-
Well- that still burns calories, doesn't it? Ha!

Windycity, You are strong. Stronger than you think. it shows because you posted this even though it is embarrassing and shameful to you. I can relate because I too have been battling some very recent 'need' to binge. And frankly, I'm not quite sure why either. And just like you I really don't WANT to do it, but feel almost…

That's fantastic! As a new runner myself, I can totally relate to feeling as though you aren't 'fast'. But, I just don't worry about it and keep getting out there. Over past couple of months, I've just been feeling better and better during every run. And that's a great feeling. Be proud of your accomplishment!

Love all the suggestions because I also really enjoy the SkinnyTaste site. Here is a recommended recipe that is not from the site, but is absolutely delicious... and super easy. And, even better as leftover too. http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/01/chicken-tortilla-soup/

I logged 60.5, starting on 10/7. My first month of running though, so I'm pretty proud of that effort.

snickers- any kind. just tried a peanut butter one and it was very good.
-
That's fantastic! keep up the walk/run method and you'll see your time continue dropping.

elizarae11: very pretty eyes

Bananas, bananas, bananas. Even tried them when I went to India- in case they were better when they were fresh off the tree. Nope - still stinky, slimy, icky slug-shaped things.

You are a success already. I have no doubt you'll meet your goal weight. Rock it out, girl!
