  • Thanks for the advice guys. Good to know I'm not the only one who struggles with this! I agree that it is a nice way to indulge without harming my weight loss goals, but I think I need to keep it under control.
  • TDGee - it's more of a 'mini' nature reserve used for hiking and biking, its right outside the city and has fairly tame zebra, giraffes, ostriches etc. The larger reserves of course have all the wild game like the lions, leopards, rhino... but you have to go much further outside of the city for those (unless you go to the…
  • Half a cup of oats An egg Frozen rasberries or blueberries mix together and zap in the microwave for 2 minutes Top with 1/2 cup of yogurt Super filing (because of the egg) a little bit sweet from the fruit and yummy.
  • Woa! You look so much younger... you after picture looks like your before picture's daughter or younger sister! Amazing. Well done!
  • I don't use a phone to track on MFP. I put in everything at the end of the day when I get home from work. Or if I am preplanning my meals the morning before I leave for the day.
  • FYI - just change the [/IMG] to lower case [/img] for your pictures to show up. Congratulations on losing your weight 'in a healthy way'! You look amazing. Your tummy has totally disappeared, you are officially a THIN person now... thanks for being so inspiring!
  • Me when I was around 195 pounds. Me about 2 weeks ago Me yesterday!
  • Congratulations. You are obviously a determined woman! Just wanted to let you know that there is a tremendous difference in your face and your legs... and of course that t-shirt is now way too big for you. Best of luck with the rest of the journey!
  • No advice from me, just admiration! Good luck and let us know how it goes...
  • Seems like you've figured out the problem... it has nothing to do with your weight, but too little air in the tires. It's impossible to know if your tire has enough air without a gauge. Ask the bike shop guy to show you where in the tire the recommend pressure is written. It will be on the side wall and it will give you a…
  • Incredible shrinking woman! Congratulations... your tummy has totally disappeared :)
  • I had a very similar problem with my last bike (a Surly long haul trucker). I was used to the more upright ride of a mountain bike frame and every part of my body screamed in agony with the drop handlebars. My husband and I had planned a cycling vacation at Acadia national park in Maine to test out my new bike and I was in…
  • I ride to work, it's a 40 minute ride all uphill so I can be quite sweaty by the time I get to work. I change in the bathroom, do the wetwipe routine and I feel pretty fresh the rest of the day ;)
  • Wow... doubling your speed up hills. That's like the holy grail of cycling :) Amazing!

  • I'm a 40G currently. I got an Elomi sports bra (at a department store). Glad I had a fitting I had no idea what my true cup size. This bra is amazing. it allows me to run and even do jumping jacks (I used to dread doing jumping jacks in my bootcamp exercise class, now I don't even mind).
  • My job can sometimes be so hectic than I don't get a chance to sit down to lunch until 2 or 3 in the afternoon and I eat breakfast at 6:30 so I've had to find something that really sticks with me all morning. What works for me is adding an egg into my oatmeal and topping it with low-fat yogurt. I mix half a cup of oatmeal…
  • It certainly sounds like IT band pain. Moving your cleat position probably subtly changed the angle of your pedal stroke to cause this. IT band pain can happen despite stretching. I would take it seriously and consider taking a break from riding clipped in for awhile. I had very similar pain last year (also just in one…
  • Hi Dylandsmum - I'm also an american living overseas, in Johannesburg South Africa. Just starting out on myfitnesspal myself. Welcome and best of luck!
  • Sounds like an awesome ride! You guys have inspired me to find out more about my local road biking groups.
  • Well done! Do you have skinny (road/slick) tires on our bike? You'll notice a huge difference in your cycling speed using road tires instead of knobbies.

  • Well done! You look great. I agree with you there is a big difference between 176 and 169. Looks more like a 15 or 20 pounds difference. Just goes to show what a poor judge of progress the scale can be! Glad you took pictures to prove it to yourself.
  • Inspring stories! Thank you to those of you who posted pictures.
  • I think pretty much any decent mountain bike would be fine. A local bike shop is a good place to ask for something not too pricey but that will last you several years. If you are really worried about your weight you could always look for a bike designed for bike touring as they are intended to carry the weight of the…
  • Great post! Put a smile on my face this morning... I think they are going to be bikini ready in no time
  • Thanks guys! You've given me some great insight and encouragement. I feel lucky to have stumbled into the cycling group in MFP. TSSeesT - I agree with you that sometimes going slow and savoring the scenery is the way to do it. Great that you have found a community of friends and family to ride with. kmccarv - I hear you…
  • That's great advice. I will ask about recovery rides and social rides! And yes, I do love drafting. I always make my husband take the lead when we are facing headwinds or long/tough flat rides!
  • Fantastic transformation in your face and your mid-section. Inspiring and thanks for sharing!
  • Here's my baby, isn't she pretty? She looks even better when she's covered in mud... She's light and fast and powerful... now if only *I* were light and fast and powerful ;) I totally recommend this bike to anyone looking for a great women specific MTB design. Cube WLS SL 2011. First time I bought a bike that felt…
