A little late to the party, but I'd like to join as well!

Awesome thread... And just what I've been looking for! Me: 0 LNS: 1* Booo! But today is a new day. I've got this!

Cook, then toss with a jar of green salsa, diced avocado, and juice from a couple limes for a quick "ceviche" - serve with tostada shells.

Yep... (with the occasional exception of cilantro/chives for garnish).

I struggle with motivation more often than not. I call that the "spoiled brat" side of me - you know - the one that says "...but I don't wanna!" I talk to myself just like I'd talk to the spoiled brat... "I don't care if you want to or not... you don't have a choice, now go do it!".

My son noticed some newly pronounced laugh lines/crow's feet... Ah well, I'll take that over thick thighs any day.

I've decided that September is 30 days of 30 minutes... doesn't matter *WHAT* I do, but I have to do something physical for at least 30 minutes every day. No excuses. Trails, hiking, biking, running, golf, Zumba, Kinect... there are no reasons for me to not be active every day.

If it's difficult to keep the responses in order/remembering what you're responding to, you can also click "quote". Type your response a couple lines after the "/quote". It'll show up like this.

I like CardioTrainer... Also use MapMyRun (for runs) and My Tracks (for hiking) every now and then, but usually end up back with CardioTrainer. Can't stand RunKeeper... Edit: (On a side note - I'd love to see MFP integrate a mapping function!)

Funny - I have an issue with groups of 5 as well...which makes the tv volume particularly interesting when DH asks me to turn it up/down a notch. I also tap my toes the exact time they pass particular things when I'm driving (usually driveways or mailboxes if I'm in a neighborhood, reflector poles if I'm on the highway),…

Yup - More lunges and squats than you ever thought humanly possible. Uphill walking lunges are great, too... And if you're doing them right (and enough of them), you with think you're going to DIE :grumble: Basically, do however many you max out at, then add 10 more.

I weigh it raw, and search for "chicken raw".

8 oz of BEER counts??? :drinker:

I'm going to toss in a couple of ideas here: While whole/"store perimeter" foods are IDEAL, you'll drive yourself batty and likely become overwhelmed if you try to overhaul your whole diet at once. If there are a handful of what I call "crutch" foods that you can use SPARINGLY (think the lesser of 2 evils - they aren't…

2 Nutrigrain waffles + 1T peanut or almond butter + 1/2 banana = Peanut Butter Banana Waffle Sandwich. SO delicious, and only about 300 calories! Also really good if you mix the peanut butter with greek yogurt before spreading it on the waffles.

Looks like okra and spinach. Okra:

OMG - Justin's Maple Nut Butter....

I don't eat before I work out, and have been fine. I do, however, have a cup of coffee with a splash of almond milk. (Without the coffee, I don't think I could even get my shoes on to get out the door...)

Drooling! My go-to is cottage cheese (16 oz) with a packet of ranch dip. YUM!

Funny thing is that yesterday, I met my calories EXACTLY (first time ever!), and was a bit miffed that I didn't get some sort of "congratulatory" type message. No "and was under..." - nothing. :grumble:

Start with identifying things that are already pretty healthy that you make... I've yet to see a kid turn down bbq chicken breast. My son loved to dip asparagus and broccoli in ketchup. Gross, I know, but whatever - he ate it. Potato wedge baked "fries", hamburgers with extra lean ground beef. As for the chili, you can…

A-FREAKING-MAZING!

I try to minimize the damage... LOADS of low-cal veggies (celery, cucumber, lettuce, green bell peppers) and a can of tuna are great for this... Balsamic (no oil) or ff sour cream mixed with salsa as a dressing. I try to keep it under 250, since that's about the daily deficit I work at (sans exercise), so ultimately - I…

I'd also add to not (unless Dr. recommended) worry about putting weight on them. My son was always a beanpole before puberty... he's now 18, and in good shape. The only thing I did was to make sure to have full-fat versions of things on hand for his consumption. Their bodies will fill out/catch up.

The Eating Well site has meal plans...

If you have access to a toaster oven, Pizza! La Tortilla Factory tortillas (50 calories!) make a great "crust", top with sauce, some part skim mozzerella and Hormel 70% reduced fat pepperoni and veggies. YUM! I also use the LTF tortillas for bean and cheese quesadillas. Tuna with a small amount of mayo and some sriracha -…

I made the mistake of doing my initial C25K training on a treadmill, set to a 0 incline. The first outside run I did killed me. I think I ran about .75 mile v the 3 miles I was able to do on the treadmill. I quickly learned the incline "trick" and started incorporating more outside runs as well. I still prefer a treadmill,…

Those sound great!

Sounds like you've gotten rid of the extraneous "issue/s" and finally had to come to terms with the ACTUAL issue/s. I'd also vote for counseling... another resource may be OA (Overeaters Anonymous). :flowerforyou:
