half an avocado is 150ish calories (depending on size). healthy fats, tons of goodness!

You're not hurting anything by weighing yourself every day. Just don't beat yourself up if you have a slight gain once or twice a week. I think that's why it's suggested not to check every day.

I started C25K last summer, but quit after a few weeks...I was still on week 2. The reason I quit was because I was in so much pain. I thought the shin splints and foot pain was what all runners endured. Little did I know, I was doing myself damage by not listening to my body. So, these suggestions are GREAT! Good shoes,…

I haven't done it, but my BeachBody coach is a HUGE fan of all-things-Chalene! And she looks GREAT! After TurboFire, she did TurboKick...and now is a TurboKick instructor.

becasue it's adding back in the 500 - 750 calories per day that it subtracted based on what you said you wanted to lose. If you originally said you wanted to lose a pound per week, MFP subtracted 500 calories from your daily calorie intake to ensure that you'd be a pound down at the end of the week. If you change your…

personally, I have a difficult time getting all of my calories in for the day. so it's nothing for me to eat half an avocado with a spoon, right out of the rind. love me some avocado!

I didn't read all of the responses, but I wanted to add... the reason that the fitbit isn't a good indicator of calories burned during strength training is because you're not moving from one location to another. The fitbit is based on GPS technology and tracks your movements. So, even though you burn a ton of calories…

I totally agree with the first two responses... I increased my protein at b'fast and reduced the carbs in my diet. And here recently, I joined one of the MFP challenges. THAT has helped a ton! Mostly because all I knew how to do initially was cardio. But I'm learning how to make my body stronger by throwing in strength…

when I first got started on this latest journey to a healthier me, I was at 243 lbs. I didn't feel like I could do ANYTHING! Someone suggested that I dance. Personally I love to dance! So, I'd put in a CD and dance for 10 - 15 mins. No one was around, so I didn't care what I looked like. And in no time, I found myself…

She already deactivated her account. hmmm...

243 lbs at 40...just a year ago.

great progress! and you totally don't look like you have another 50 lbs to lose. My numbers are a lot like yours I think. I started here at 235 and I want to get down to 135. After about 7wks, I'm down 13 lbs. keep up the great work!

I've been doing some running too. Sounds like we're in the same boat there...dealing with shin splints and starting slow. But I can run 3/4 of a mile now before I stop to walk. A year ago, I would have NEVER bet money on that! Keept up the great work!!

definitely apple! very unfortunate... :ohwell:

Sometimes you have to tweak things to get just the right formula. Maybe more protein and fewer carbs. Or maybe MFP set your calories too high or too low. Don't give up just yet. Een though 16 lbs in 4 mos is less than you were hoping/expecting, it IS something. So, don't quit! Even if you only EVER lose 1 pound per week,…

You can also do some strength training...squats, lunges, crunches...using food cans or gallon jugs as weights for bicep curls and other arm lifts. Running in place, jump roping (even without the jump rope), hoola hoop (even without the hula hoop), climbing stairs if you have them. Sorry, I didnt' check out your profile, so…

There's a decent 'hotel workout' on Nerd Fitness. http://nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/12/20/the-20-minute-hotel-workout/ It doesn't require any equipment that isn't already in the average hotel room. Actually, there are lots of workouts at this site. You can get plenty of ideas there.

I have rewards listed for several milestones. The one for hitting my goal and staying there six weeks in a row is to go on another cruise. Loved the first one. Want to take a bathing suit with me on the second one!

LOVE THIS!!!!

your face AND your neck definitely show the changes you've made. Nice dedication. Keep up the great work!

You're welcome to add me too! I'm 41 and the mother of a 21 year old...who's out on his own. And I'm divorced, so I don't have that supportive hubby. But I too consider myself to be fairly positive and enjoy the support and encouragement from MFP friends. I'm on my way to losing 100 lbs. 10 down, 90 to go! Good luck with…

nice job! You look great!

Personally, now that I'm eating healthier, I have a difficult time getting all of my calories in for the day if I don't snack. But it's just that, snacking. I don't consider it more meals. Mid-morning, I have a piece of fruit and maybe a piece of cheese. Mid-afternoon, I have a raw vegetable (usually a bell pepper). So, I…

I"ve all but dropped all processed foods from my diet. Pretty much nothing out of a box. I cook more, but I figure I'm worth it. And I walk (with a little bit of running...which is saying a lot at 225 lbs) for lunch every day.
-
I'm not really in your demographic, as I'm 41 and have 100 lbs to lose. But you're welcome to add me if you want. I check in every day and try to provide something postive to all of my friends.

I want in! 227 lbs here!
-
Okay, first of all, you look GREAT! But second, and no less impressive, WAY TO STICK WITH IT! Your dedication and persistence have definitely paid off!
-
LOOK AT YOU!!! You look amazing! Keep up the awesomeness!!!

I was going to say this same thing! I put a boneless chicken breast in a baggie and nuke it in the microwave. You can even season it. The most juicy piece of chicken I ever made!
