  • JUST lost my Dad to liver and pancreatic cancer on April 26. It's been a long hard year for our entire family. Long story short...re-gained 17 of the 43 lbs lost and now I am re-taking control, or at least trying to. My condolences to you all who have lost loved ones.
  • Poultry Fish broccoli cauliflower green beans salads cucumbers sweet potato herbal tea carrots peas almond milk frozen mixed berries apples apple sauce celery What you listed is pretty much my diet always. I do have chocolate and occasionally dairy. I have slipped on the dairy end quite frequently lately though and am…
  • My daughter and I both have the same issue. Advice from the PT was to strengthen the glutes and the core and that will help to keep the hip joint where it should be. BUT...check with YOUR doctor! Lack of muscle support for is what it was for us but it could be something entirely different for you.

  • Not dumb at all. I would also like to add that the more physically fit you are pre-pregnancy the easier labor can be. (this is not always the case, however, I found this to be true. I was fittest with my 2nd pregnancy and that was the easiest labor of them all...momma of 4 here)
  • My kids like to do what ever I'm doing. I have a 17, 14, 10 yr. old and a 6 yr. old. At the moment we're doing Pilates, treadmill, snow shoeing outside, 30DS and what ever other videos we happen to have around. In the summer we're always outside...riding bikes, hiking, walking the dunes/beach...There are times when I'll…
  • I listen to music and match my speed on the treadmill to the tempo of the song and keep track of how many MPH certain songs are. Surprisingly enough a lot of ballads have faster MPH than classic rock, oldies, or rock n roll! lol I then quite often will share my odd findings with my awesome hubby who is very good at…
  • Pick me! Carrots, celery, any stone fruit, pears, potatoes, msg, nitrates, and most grains so far. More cropping up all the time. I cannot have cherries, potatoes or carrots in any form, cooked or otherwise. I can't even come into physical contact with potatoes or peaches without problems. I am on 360 mg of allegra/day + I…
  • I had a hyst. for fibroids about 2 years ago and I don't regret it for even a moment. I was able to keep my ovaries so no issues with menopause symptoms. As far as sex, exercise, etc...well, lets just say I have a lot more energy, no worries about pregnancy = great freedom, and I have never been in better shape then now.…
  • Hmmm, I like to crochet, file my nails, moisturize, paraffin bath for my hands, cross stitch, play a game with one of the kiddos, drink a big glass of water...anything to keep from munching! Good luck!
  • Another freak here. Not even trying to stay reasonable though, I was just curious to see how many calories I consumed today. I was also curious to see how may calories are burned while snow shoeing as we got snow shoes for Christmas!
  • Tonight: Clean the left overs out of the fridge so: Nachos, mashed potatoes, chicken, veggies, etc. Dessert tonight = peppermint stick ice cream with home made hot fudge sauce tomorrow: Swiss Steak with homemade mushroom gravy mashed potatoes homemade rolls green beans carrots corn brown rice Dessert - frostbite (YUMMY…
  • Thank you for posting this. I will have to say good bye to my Dad sooner than I would like, and its appearing that it will be even sooner than anyone anticipated. What you wrote is beautiful and we're trying hard to show him each and every day that we'll all be there to help take care of mom and my little brothers after…
  • This sounds like food allergies. (NOT a Dr. just someone who has food allergies with similar symptoms) I would suggest going to an allergist, or if you don't want to go that route do an elimination diet on your own and figure out what you're reacting to. I now have to carry an epi-pen with me at all times and follow a very…
  • OOPS! forgot the quote on my original reply....
  • Yes, as in Physical Therapy...she's a runner and it was causing her to constantly turn her ankles and having a negatice impact on her form. With all of the insane growth spurts she's been going through her muscles just couldn't keep up...She also has a condition where her heart valves will grow at a different rate than the…
  • My daughter is currently in PT for this very issue...they have her doing a lot of core exercises and on the ones where she is on 1 foot to improve balance engaging your core muscles really helps with being able to balance a bit. I also have the same problem and will be adding her PT prescribed exercises to my routine to…
  • I don't have any hard and fast fixes but a few thoughts...are you stretching properly before AND after you run? Is it possible your form is off b/c of running on the treadmill instead of outside? ( I have caught myself several times not using proper form on the treadmill. For some reason its easier outside for me.) Are you…
  • Love your "chicken happiness"...my 4 are finally laying consistantly (only 6 and 9 mos. old) and I wrote an excited post about it on FB this a.m.! lol
  • Yup lots of weird food allergies here...wheat, potatoes, celery, carrots, cherries, peaches, pears, nitrates, msg. Needless to say eating is an adventure. I alway have my epi, liquid and capsule benadryl with me. Even coming in physical contact with potatoes or peaches can trigger an allergic reaction. Fun times! NOT.…
  • Just to keep this short and to the point if a bit disjointed and random (coffee hasn't kicked in yet)...No you're not eating enough calories and YES those symptoms can all be a result of not eating enough. Maybe you can open up your diary so that we can see what you're actually eating??? Is this a normal amount of calories…
  • As a mom of 4 who does have that reflected in my screen name I find this to be an interesting perspective. I agree with your unscientific rant to some degree. (A rather large degree actually) For me though it has been about finding the proper balance of being a wife and mom while still taking care of me. Its not always…
  • I am feeling super spoiled and lucky at the moment! I live in West MI and we have tons of orchards here. Honeycrisps are still quite pricey BUT one of the orchards delivered a shipping crate of Honeycrisp "seconds" (the ones with less than perfect looking skin that they can't sell to the stores) to the hardware store where…
  • Wow, lots of people on here have food allergies! Me too...feel free to add me if you wish. Gluten and dairy sensitive, allergic to potatoes, carrots, peaches, pears, cherries, celery and still discovering others. Epi pen and benadryl are with me all the time just in case. I develped Erosive Gastritis as a result of my…
  • Yup agree with this...you'll have hours in pics on top of the wedding and reception. I just was the MC for a friend's wedding and she did the 2 pairs thing. Once she got to the recieving line she was literally kicking her heeled shoes to/at me and begging for the flats! lol
  • Sounds like me...any OTC allergy prep pretty much knocks me flat. I can't take Allegra, Claritin, or Zyrtec (or any of their generic version) I have found a compound at my health food store that the owner recommended (she is also a licensed naturopath) called QBC Plex by Solaray. I get it there b/c its close by BUT I know…
  • ^^^This^^^ my oldest had the testing done and they diagnosed ADHD...none of my other kids do BUT 2 of my younger brothers (They're 14 yr. old twins whom my parents adopted) have both had extensive testing. Both have varying levels of cognitive impairment. One WAY more severe than the other, 1 has aspbergers, the other…
  • WhenI did 30DS I didn't see very much change in the scale, where I did see a difference is in my measurements! Huge difference, as in 18 inches all over GONE! (Chest, waist, hips, thighs, arms and at my belly button) So I would say rely on the tape measure not the scale for 30DS. Unfortunately I didn't take pics. This was…
  • My hubby, oldest son, and youngest daughter are all ADHD and I have done pretty extensive research and a lot of trial and error through out the past 18 years! Yes cutting out the food additives and dyes helps. Red Dye is often the one focused on but in reality ALL food dyes can problematic. Yes Valarian Root helps, and…
  • Awww, it sounds like you're stressing your self out big time and yes, that can cause tummy trouble, sleep issues, and eating issues. I am not familiar with Insanity but it sounds like you're supposed to do something each day? Is this correct? I can't immaging that occasionally skipping one day and then picking back up…
